Quick info
About Giraffe
Giraffe is a restaurant on London's South Bank, with views of the river, Golden Jubilee Bridge and the London Eye. The menu covers breakfast, brunch, mains and puddings, and it includes a bottomless brunch. Katsu curry comes in both chicken and vegan versions, and the Chix Hanging Kebab and BBQ chicken tenders round out the chicken dishes. Diners can order from a self-service tablet on the table, which shows photos of the food and has a comments button for removing items from a dish. Tablet orders automatically add a 10% service charge, while ordering with a waiter avoids it. Physical menus are also handed out on arrival.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the katsu, praising the Japanese katsu and katsu chicken curry, with the Thai duck stir fry close behind. Chicken also draws repeated praise, from bbq chicken tenders with halloumi fries to the Chix Hanging Kebab, and others mention gyoza, fish, a classic cheese burger and chocolate fudge cake. Cocktails such as mojitos and margaritas get a nod, as does a Pinot Grigio served with an ice bucket. Many like the tablet ordering, which shows photos and lets diners remove items like chillies, and describe quick, welcoming service on the South Bank with views of the London Eye. The main complaint is that one family found the tablet adds a 10% service charge automatically, avoidable only by ordering through a waiter. Two of their five meals arrived late, condiments were empty twice, and a tiramisu was withdrawn because it hadn't defrosted. A vegan katsu curry was also said to need more sauce and veg.

“Overall we were a bit disappointed. Decent music, and the waiter was a nice guy. There is an electronic ordering system on the table, but it automatically includes the 10% service charge (even before a tip?!?). The only way to avoid this clearly marked 'optional' extra charge is to order with a waiter / waitress, which we did. 3 of the 5 meals came quickly. 2 did not. We had to ask where they were. We had to ask for condiments. Twice, because they were empty both times. No one came over to ask how the food was. I've not had that before. Ordered deserts for the kids and a tiramisu for the adults. The waiter came over after about 5 minutes to say that the tiramisu was off the menu as it hadn't defrosted. Authentic then. Overall a bit disappointing. Convenient for our day on the South bank, but I'd recommend you try somewhere else.”

“Great food, scrumptious chicken, great fish and gyoza. Shout outs to the AMAZING staff, especially miss Ilona who took care of us when we came in near heatstroked, got us promptly seated somewhere chill and took care of us with a smile and great care! Best wait staff ever!”

“Great meal and quick service. Order virtually on a tablet, still got better service than some other places in the area. This is also well placed on the strip.”

“I visited Giraffe yesterday with family and got served by the lovely Kaliya. She was such a sweet waitress, paid attention to detail , and was so attentive to our order, she made sure to never leave her eyes off of our table. The food was great, fresh and delicious. The vibes were warm and welcoming and I would definitely recommend and revisit! Thank you team !”

“Southbank is one of my favourite places to spend a summer evening, and Giraffe never disappoints. We booked ahead to sit outside, which I would definitely recommend as it can get quite busy. The booking process was simple and straightforward, and upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown to our table. The atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped for – beautiful weather, lovely company, and the perfect outdoor setting to relax and unwind. Watching the sun set along the South Bank while enjoying a meal is always such a special experience. The food is consistently good, reasonably priced, and there is genuinely something for everyone on the menu. What makes each visit even more enjoyable is the staff. They are friendly, attentive, and regularly check in to make sure everything is okay without ever being intrusive. They have a wonderful way of making guests feel welcome and at home. I've honestly lost count of how many times I've visited Giraffe over the years, but every visit has been a positive one. Whether it's for a family meal, catching up with friends, or simply enjoying the view with a refreshing drink, it's always a place I look forward to returning to. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for your warm hospitality and for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back again soon.”
