About Masters Superfish
Masters Superfish is a British fish and chips restaurant on Waterloo Road, serving with table service rather than counter ordering. Meals arrive with complimentary bread, pickles, pickled onions, and cold shrimp or prawns before the main plates land. The menu runs to 118 dishes, covering cod, haddock, and rock fish alongside scampi, calamari, and items like the Roast ¼ Chicken and Battered Jumbo Sausage, with curry sauce and mushy peas available as sides. UK flags and vintage-style décor mark the dining room, which also seats families with young children thanks to high chairs and offers a step-free entrance for visitors with mobility needs. Reservations are recommended given the table service format. Those wanting the food off site can order takeaway or have it delivered. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Saturday and stays closed on Mondays and Sundays. It sits close to Lambeth North tube station on Waterloo Road.

Customer Review Summary
Cod and chips forms the clear draw at Masters Superfish, with reviewers repeatedly praising generous portions, crispy batter, and the complimentary bread, pickles, and shrimp cocktail served with every meal. Several single out the Master Fish and haddock as standouts, and many describe good value compared to other London chippies, with one noting a promotional cod and chips with a drink as a "massive feed." Diners also mention curry sauce and mushy peas as favored add-ons, and a few flag that the fish needs salt and vinegar to avoid tasting bland or oily. Complaints recur around inconsistency: one reviewer found stale complimentary bread and scampi that was "90% batter," another reported bland fish and limp chips alongside a billing dispute over split checks, and one diner reports that a companion who ate the cold shrimp starter was sick afterward, though most describe the shrimp as a welcome touch. Several note the frying oil leaves a lingering smell on clothes and hair. One reviewer recalls being served a curry sauce and scraps order so generous it became a planned weekly return.

“Got the promotional special of cod and chips with a drink and man alive it was a massive feed! Amazing for value and taste! An authentic British fish and chips experience! Nice add ons were the mushy peas and curry sauce for something different!”

“The server was friendly and prompt, we asked for tap water and she kept trying to give us bottle water. They did give us pickles, pickled onions, prawns and bread which was a nice touch; however the fish was tasteless, and the chips were lacking crispness. We asked for separate checks and when the first person payed they charged the entire amount to her credit card and then refused to correct it. Saying it couldn’t be done.”

“£20 for fish & chips, tea, bread and butter. That's quite good for London. Nice big chunky fish. Nice staff and clean place.”
