Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the smashed avocado, served as a sandwich or on toast, with the full English breakfast, mimosas and a charcuterie platter with share plates close behind. The garden setting behind the embankment gardens draws steady praise as calm and lovely, with lush planting, and several describe friendly, attentive staff. One reviewer suggests asking for the front room overlooking the river rather than the back garden, and another mentions the pottery used for tea and coffee. One reviewer reports the toilet was not very clean. The most detailed complaint comes from a diner who was told sandwiches stop in the afternoon, which the menu did not say, and who then found the pollo supreme pizza sparse, with most slices carrying a single piece of chicken and few peppers or onions. That diner called the drinks and atmosphere great but the food poor value, and was charged for a bottle of still water.

“Delicious food in a beautiful location. This was the perfect place to have a quiet dinner in a beautiful spot to take a break walking the Thames. The food was delicious, the service was quiet but very nice. Couldn’t have asked for more.”

“Google said it was open until 11p, and we got there at 925p. When we got seated we were told the kitchen would close at 930p. Not a problem, so we ordered the pollo sandwich. We were told that they stopped serving sandwiches after 4p. No where on the menu did it state that. So we pivoted to a pollo supreme pizza, and ordered wine, a beer and a water. On a side note, everywhere we’ve been in London has either self-serve or water by the glass. They charged us for “still” water by the bottle. Not sparkling, but just water. We got the pollo supreme and it was not very good. The crust was ok, but the main issue was the overall lack of any toppings. Most pieces of pizza had 1 piece of chicken and 1 had none. There were supposed to be green peppers and onions on the pizza and they were as sparse as the chicken. Overall, not a good value for the price. The drinks and atmosphere was great, but the food is lacking. Improve the food, and I would rank this higher.”

“Today, my wife and I visited the Garden Bistro on Embankment for brunch. We were seated outside, but decided to move inside shortly after our meal arrived. We’d like to say a particular thank you to Iqra for being so hospitable, kind, and gentle with our request and finding us a suitable table inside the lovely restaurant. We had a full English breakfast and the smashed avocado sandwhich - the food was lovely.”

“What a hidden gem! Walking past from the road, you'd never imagine there's such a calm and beautiful place behind Victoria Embankment Gardens. The food is light, the vibe is relaxed, and it's a great spot to switch off after work. I've also seen small groups celebrating here, so it's ideal for parties and special occasions too.”

“What a wonderful hidden gem! Thank you, Google for once again showing us nearby restaurants that are open now and highly rated!! We did not have reservations, but walked up and inquired if a table was available. It was! After a long day of touring, it was just the perfect respite for food and drink.”
