About Fatt Pundit
Fatt Pundit is an Asian fusion restaurant in London, at 77 Berwick St, serving Indo-Chinese cooking from Kolkata. The name joins the Chinese surname Fatt with the Indian word Pundit, which means a scholar, a pairing that mirrors the kitchen's mix of Chinese and Indian influences. Dishes arrive as shared plates in small portions, so a couple will want to order several. The chicken momo come three to an order, and crackling spinach and Mumbai chilli prawns sit alongside them on the list. A pre-theatre menu is also offered.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the crackling spinach, described as crispy with a standout sauce, and close behind come the chilli prawns, called stir fried with balanced spices. Lollipop chicken, tender lamb chops, pepper crab and chicken or beef momo also draw praise, along with the Hakka Garden cocktail, called fruity. Service earns repeated warmth, with reviewers describing friendly hosts and servers who made recommendations, entertained a reviewer's kids and brought a free birthday dessert. The main reservations concern portions and value. Dishes are shared and small, and one reviewer says four dishes are needed for two people, while another found the chicken was just three small dumplings. One pre-theatre diner found the fish curry firm, the duck dark and chewy, and the brownie for two small with a single scoop of ice cream. Others found the momos only ok, and okra fries good but boring after a while. Several suggest booking ahead, and one reviewer's anniversary was marked with a gifted card.

“Upon arriving, the host was excellent, polite, and friendly. We sat downstairs, and the staff were equally lovely here too. We chose 2 x 2 courses from the pre theatre menu. The fried rice had a nice kick to it, and sweet potato fries were good. The fish in the fish curry was quite firm and hard to break apart. The duck was very dark and could almost pass for beef. It was a bit chewy. The brownie for 2 was quite small and with one ice cream scoop. It didn't really feel like value for money, even for the theatre menu. Even though the food did not, live up to the expectation, I can't praise the staff enough, they were fab.”

“My partner and I had a great experience at Fatt Pundit. Clayton was a great host, was very friendly and delivered a prompt service. The restaurant even gifted us a card for our anniversary, which we thought was very sweet. Overall, I’d definitely recommend for anyone to visit if you’re in the area!”

“A MUST VISIT. Every single item was amazing. Make a reservation well in advance. Drinks: Hakka Garden was delicious and so fruity. Food - what we ordered for 3 people: • chicken momo (x 2, 3 per order): perfection • beef momo (x 2, 3 per order): perfection • crackling spinach: unique! • sticky sesame vegetables: so yummy • popcorn cauliflower: amazing • stir fry chicken noodles: so good!”

“Good quality comfort food. The Okra fries are good but get boring after a while. The Bombay chilli prawn was the best- stir fried with balanced spices. Manchurian was mild on the spices and also tasted great. Chicken Momos were just ok but the dips were good. Clayton’s service was the best.”

“We were recommended this restaurant by our son and to be honest we would have walked right past it were it not for the recommendation. The food was exceptional from start to finish and the service and advice from Raj was excellent. We will definitely be back and you should definitely give it a try. Five star”

Good to know
“Originating from Kolkata, this unique cuisine was invented when the Hakka people migrated to India from the Chinese province of Canton, bringing with them their culinary treasures. Incorporating traditional Chinese cooking techniques with the spices of India to create something both new yet familiar, Indo Chinese is now an integral part of Indian cuisine. Playfully named Fatt Pundit it’s a combination of the common Chinese surname ‘Fatt’ with the Indian word ‘Pundit’ (a scholar)”
