About Soho Wala
Soho Wala is a restaurant on Great Marlborough St in London, serving Indian street food alongside an Indian Afternoon Tea. The tea centres on masala chai, scones and a top tier of cakes, and it brings together sweet and savoury items. Other teas and coffee are also available for those who want something besides the chai. Beyond the regular menu, the kitchen runs a Bollywood beats set menu and a Goan theme menu. The dining room has booth seating. Customer Review Summary
Indian afternoon tea is the most frequent draw, with diners praising the wide range of sweet and savoury items, scones dusted with sugar, a top tier of cakes and the chai. Close behind are dishes from the main menu: the Bollywood beats set menu, described as huge in quantity and varied, a fish curry, soft shell crab called tasty and crispy, and tandoori chicken arriving on a sizzling plate. Many call the food delicious, and several say the staff helped them choose dishes and their recommendations were spot-on. Prices are described as affordable. Criticism is milder but specific. One reviewer found the curry average and the room dated, like going back to the 1980s, and noted a small plate that came out large while the main was small. Another said the food arrived quickly but it was hard at times to get the attention of any staff. Booth seating is called comfy, and one diner who has been to Goa said the Goan theme menu was spot on.

“Was OK, an average curry. Service was very good. Prices extremely good, especially given it's just off Regent Street. The place feels quite dated, like going back in time to the 1980s. Booth seating was so comfy. Bizarrely, my 'small plate' item was quite large, while my main was small. Overall, a cheap, no fuss evening.”

“Food was delicious. Highly recommend fish curry. Boyfriend has been to Goa and said the Goan theme menu was spot on. Lovely staff thank you!!”

“Lovely afternoon tea experience! The scones were perfectly baked and dusted with sugar, and the selection of cakes on the top tier was impressive. Everything tasted as good as it looked. A perfect treat if you’re looking for a classic tea in a cozy setting”

“This restaurant is a hidden gem in my opinion. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and mote helpful and the food was delicious. The cuisine is not your 'typical' Indian food, it is more unusual and interesting. As such we asked the staff to help us choose and their recommendations were perfect. It was also extremely reasonable. Would strongly recommend and would love to return.”

“This place was amazing, I don’t understand the negative reviews! Wonderful kind service, the waiter gave great recommendations! Absolutely delicious food and very affordable prices. We used the fork app discount and got 50% off the food which was unreal. Every dish was perfectly cooked and flavourful, as well as beautifully presented. Thanks so much, I will come back!”
