About Arte Pasta

Arte Pasta is an Italian restaurant on Whipps Cross Rd in London, set inside the Alfred Hitchcock hotel in Leytonstone. Its founders previously ran the Italian grill Bombetta London, and Chef Victor leads both the kitchen and the dining room. Pasta is hand-rolled fresh in front of diners, and the menu includes pappardelle with ragù alongside pigs head on focaccia. Italian cicchetti-style small dishes suit sharing, and the restaurant offers a set menu and a five-course sharing menu. Ingredients are imported from Slow Food producers across Italy, and the wine list includes a sparkling rosé. The building also works as a gallery managed by Wood Street Walls, which facilitated the murals around it.

Customer Review Summary

The one detailed criticism comes from a reviewer who found the food needed refinement: the caramelised orange with mozzarella read more like a dessert, the pigs head on focaccia was too salty and plain, and the porchetta and nduja ravioli was salty and rough, with several dishes lacking acid. Kids' options, including a free pasta dish, and fresh pasta made in front of diners round out the praise.

“Arte e Pasta is a true leytonstone secret, tucked away in the Alfred Hitchcock hotel. What it lacks in central visibility, it more than makes up for with exceptional, hand-rolled pasta—from silky, rich ragù pappardelle to delicate seasonal gnocchi. It’s an unpretentious, hidden gem that delivers pure comfort in every bite.”

“Really lovely lunch celebrating our anniversary. Food was delicious, hot and well presented. Great options for kids (including a free pasta dish) with perfect service. We’ll be back again very soon!”

“An exceptional Italian restaurant better than any we’ve ever been to and we’ve been to a lot. We had the set menu and every dish was great. The Pappardelle was firs class with a proper ragu not just a lot of mince as is so often the case. I recommend the Frizzanti, a light rose sparking wine at a good price. Great service as well. We live near but if you don’t make the trip.”
  • Lizzie Mabbott
“The service was very attentive and lovely but unfortunately the food missed the mark a little. The caramelised orange with mozzarella could really be a dessert; it needed more saltiness and acid. The pigs head on focaccia was too salty - and a little uninteresting, just some fatty cubes on toasted bread. The ravioli with porchetta and nduja was a little rough in execution, again too salty and crying out for some acid. Prices were too bad but food needs refinement.”
