About Ida
Ida is an Italian restaurant at 167 Fifth Ave in London, set in a converted cornershop where the kitchen specialises in pasta rolled by hand. Fresh pasta anchors the menu, including pappardelle with mussels and a sausage version, and gluten-free pasta is available for those who need it. Vegetarian dishes are listed too, and steak sits alongside the pasta. Desserts include tiramisu, panna cotta and a Nutella cheesecake. On the drinks side, the bar pours cocktails such as the Aperol spritz, along with house red and house rosé. The dining room is small and holds a wall of art, with personalised plates on the tables. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
The caveats centre on portions, cost and one uncomfortable visit. One reviewer found the pasta portions small and would save Ida for special occasions because of pricing, while another felt a few slivers of charcuterie in the antipasti misto were stingy. The most critical diner described a stifling, unventilated room on a hot night, a standoffish waitress, and an order the owner forgot to put through, which ended with three slices of bread comped, and no check-ins afterward.

“Such a beautiful little family run spot. Delicious authentic food packed full of flavour. I’m gluten free and the pasta they offer here is THE BEST around. Will be coming back.”

“Ida continues to be one of my favourite restaurants in London. We visited to try the new menu and it exceeded every expectation. The pappardelle with mussels was absolutely outstanding—perfectly cooked fresh pasta, beautiful fresh mussels and a rich, delicious sauce that was full of flavour. Every dish reflects the passion and skill of the kitchen. What makes Ida truly special, though, is the people. The staff work exceptionally hard, and it’s so obvious that they genuinely love what they do. Nothing—and I mean nothing—is ever too much trouble. Everyone is warm, welcoming, attentive and makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. The atmosphere is relaxed, cosy and full of charm, making every visit a pleasure. If you’re looking for authentic Italian food with incredible service and genuine hospitality, Ida is an absolute gem. The new menu is fantastic, and we’ll be back very soon. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.”

“Absolutely fantastic gem in our neighbourhood. Our first time here and it is comfortably as good as the best reviews on here. We had the courgette and goats cheese and the white crab salads for starters, a shared bowl of papardelle with sausage and green beans on the side followed by a lemon and raspberry cake with insanely rich vanilla icecream. Our cocktails were excellent and the glass of house rose soooo good! Oh and i mustn't forget the olives and bread and fantastic dipping olive oil. We are 100% returning! Thank you Ida and for not giving away the table even though we were 20 mins late ( blame losing my reading glasses!). I almost forgot - we loved the decor and artwork and cosy authentic feel and especially liked the tableware. And such warm and charming staff💥💥🌼.”

“Went back after three years to see if the recent fuss in the press was warranted. My personal answer: not really. The room hasn't changed since our first visit, still tiny, still the same look (from what I can remember). Fine in theory, except they'd apparently just closed for several weeks of "extensive renovation." Whatever that money went on, it wasn't ventilation: open kitchen, no windows that open, no aircon, and on a night when it was 26 degrees outside, the dining room was stifling. The chairs were uncomfortable, and the solitary fan was doing nothing against the heat. We had to ask for tap water, when I'd have expected it offered on arrival given the heat, and it was delivered by a particularly standoffish waitress, like we'd asked her for a kidney. The boss came to take our order, then forgot to put it through. Twenty minutes later she came back to own up and comped us some bread, three slices between four people, and even that didn't make it onto the first bill; we had to ask for it to be taken off. Generosity clearly isn't the house style: the antipasti misto was £13 for what amounted to a few slivers of charcuterie. The pasta was good, no complaints there, but nothing that can explain the level of press attention this place gets. The real letdown was the service: once the mistake was smoothed over, no one from the front of house checked in on us again; maybe the boss was still smarting from the cost of the bread. The second waitress was pleasant enough, to be fair. Decent local spot if you live nearby. Not one I'd cross London for, and we won't be rushing back.”

“Came here for my partner and I’s anniversary and it’s my new favourite restaurant. I’m Italian and this place is definitely authentic! Amazing pasta and good vegetarian options. Also love the atmosphere, such a cosy restaurant.”
