Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often describe the feeling of being in Italy, from a charming, quaint trattoria setting to Italian music and staff who show pride in the food. Burrata with bread and tomatoes draws repeated praise, along with garlic bread, mussel soup served by the bucket load, gnocchi with homemade pesto, and a cookie dough dessert. The house wine and a very cold beer also earn mentions, and several describe the staff as friendly and attentive. The caveat comes from two three-star reviews. Both found the carbonara disappointing, one calling it watery and not authentic tasting, the other noting a strange, off-putting flavour. One of them also reports an odd-tasting porn star martini and a cold, standoffish welcome, and the other would choose somewhere else for Italian food in London. Portions get notice too: one couple could not finish their lunch and took the rest home, where it became dinner.

“Ok so we found this place by accident. We went to see Portobello road market and we were kind of glummy bc it was a bust. Only 4 vendors. Booo… Well we were walking up the sidewalk and seen this darling eatery set back and it looked like something from a hallmark movie. Like the perfect proposal spot or movie scene for it. We stopped for lunch, ordered 2 mocktails and food. That food was huge!!! We had to take it to go and it was finished for dinner. We both agreed this was AUTHENTIC Italian ! The atmosphere, the lady of the house, everything. By far it has been our highlight of the trip. I’d tell everyone and anyone to visit. (Cost for 2 drinks, water and 2 dishes, £77) 10 out 10!!!”

“At the end of a busy hot day visiting London we chanced on this almost grotto like gem. Superb service, fresh delicious food. We both ordered the fresh mussel 'soup' The anticipation was palpable as I hoped it was more mussel and less soup and how they delivered. Really flavoursome mussels by the bucket load. Then only I had room for more food so I ordered gnocchi, mozzarella and home made pesto. Again absolutely delicious. Would definitely eat again. All the chef's and most of the staff were Italian and their pride in their delicious food was apparent. Lovely place to eat and recuperate.”

“Some of the best pasta I’ve had! Very cold beer and garlic bread topped it off perfectly. If you’ve just done a morning strolling through Portobello Market, then this is a total gem of a restaurant for a great lunch. The vibe is also first class…I felt like I was in Italy for an hour 😍”
