About Lin's Restaurant & Bar
Lin's Restaurant & Bar is a Chinese restaurant at 134 Southwark St in London, with a 65-dish menu built around Hunan-style soup noodles and rice noodles. Hunan spicy stir-fries run alongside the noodle bowls, so the kitchen covers both noodles and wok dishes. The Beef Rib Oil-Splashed Noodles sit on the noodle list, and the Baman Rice Noodles come with toppings including mashed potato, fried egg and beef offal. Other bowls use pre-braised toppings, among them quail eggs, tofu and beef. The menu also includes cold dishes, and the pig ear in chilli oil is one of them.

Customer Review Summary
Rice noodles and beef noodles with braised toppings are what reviewers raise most, especially a rice noodle bowl loaded with quail eggs, tofu and braised beef, often with mashed potato added, which one reviewer calls a must. The beef rib oil-splashed noodles are praised for flavour that soaks into every strand, and the house specialty noodles are described as bold, spicy and numbing. Close behind are the braised pork knuckle, tender and falling off the bone, and a cold pig ear in chilli oil. A few also mention sweet and sour chicken, prawns and wings. Reviewers describe rich soup, huge portions, and food that arrives quickly with friendly service. Complaints are fewer but specific: one diner found the food average with poor texture and the staff unwelcoming, and another says there is little ventilation inside for eating in. One reviewer's rice noodle bowl, topped with fried egg and beef offal, came out thick, rich and satisfying.

“The soup base was rich and flavourful without being too heavy, and the rice noodles were cooked perfectly with a great texture. The ingredients tasted fresh and the portion size was generous. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. A comforting and authentic meal that really hit the spot. Will definitely be coming back to try more dishes!”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🍜 Beef Rib Oil-Splashed Noodles Absolutely amazing — never expected such great noodles here. Unlike others where seasoning only sits on top, every strand soaks up all the flavour. Also try the braised pork knuckle: tender, falls off the bone, deeply savoury. 🍜 Baman Rice Noodles Loaded with toppings. I added mashed potato (a must!), fried egg & beef offal — thick, rich and so satisfying. Quail eggs, tofu & beef are pre-braised, full of classic Hunan flavour. 🐷 Pig Ear in Chilli Oil Refreshing cold salad. Green peppers add a lovely bright, clean kick.”

“I didn’t even want to give one star, but I had no choice. The food was very average, and the texture was quite poor. It also didn’t feel very clean — at one point a staff member’s finger almost touched the soup while serving. The staff’s attitude was not very welcoming either. Based on my experience, the overall quality did not match the overwhelmingly positive reviews here. Some of the reviews feel unusually polished and may reflect marketing or PR efforts rather than genuine customer experiences.”

“That’s one of the best place you can find that is authentic Chinese noodle and rice noodle place! Also if you love Hunan spicy food, you would fall in love with this place!”

“I tried the house specialty noodles, and they were absolutely delicious! The dish is packed with a variety of ingredients, including tender braised beef, tofu, egg, seaweed, and crunchy peanuts, creating a perfect balance of textures and flavors. The noodle has a bold and flavourful kick, with just the right amount of spiciness and a delightful numbing sensation. Every bite was a treat—highly recommended for anyone who enjoys rich and complex noodle dishes!”
