Quick info
About Xiao Long Kan
Xiao Long Kan is a Chinese hotpot restaurant at 10-12 Holborn in London, run as an all-you-can-eat buffet with a time limit per sitting. Tables place orders on a tablet, and the pot comes with a choice of broths, including spicy, tomato and mushroom, or a three-flavor split pot for sharing several flavors in one pot. The spicy broth comes in medium and hot levels. Meat orders include Iberico pork and goose intestine, and a self-serve station lets each diner mix their own dipping sauce. Fried snacks and egg fried rice sit alongside the pot on the menu, with brown sugar rice cake among the extras. Halal diners have a limited choice of meats, ordered separately.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are practical. One reviewer says halal diners get only two meat options, ordered separately at an extra charge. Another could not get half portions of meat, even though leftover food is charged for. A third notes that in-restaurant prices are higher than the old website menu, and one reminds parties to have everyone arrive before sending the first order on the tablet, since the time limit starts then.

“Great spot for a quick lunch near St Paul’s. We ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice and Roast Duck Rice. The chicken was tender with fragrant rice, while the roast duck was the highlight for me — crispy skin, juicy meat and well-balanced seasoning. The open kitchen and hanging roast meats give the place an authentic feel, and the service was fast even during the lunch rush. Simple setting, reasonable prices and a great choice if you’re working or visiting the City.”

“Had a fantastic experience at Xiao Long Kan in London. The atmosphere was lively and authentic, and the overall quality of the food really stood out. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, and despite how busy the restaurant was, the food came out reasonably quickly throughout the meal. One of the highlights was definitely the condiment station. Being able to mix your own dipping sauce adds so much to the hotpot experience, and there was a great variety of ingredients available. My only wish is that they included satay sauce, which would make the setup feel even closer to the authentic hotpot spots in Asia. The staff were also excellent — attentive, pleasant, and always quick to help when needed. Service felt organized and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My only real criticism is that they couldn’t accommodate requests for half portions of meat. Since the restaurant charges for leftover food, having the option to order half portions would make a lot of sense and help customers avoid over-ordering while still getting to try more dishes. That aside, Xiao Long Kan delivers a very solid hotpot experience in London with fresh ingredients, good service, and a fun atmosphere. Definitely somewhere I’d happily return to.”

“Loved this place. If you choose the 'hot' version of the spicy broth you should brace yourself. I would recommend the medium instead. Having that one with the tangy tomato broth worked perfectly. My favourite was the goose intestine which only needs a short dip to avoid getting chewy and be crunchy instead. Also really enjoyed the Iberico pork. The draught Tiger lager is good. We should have had the all you can eat at £36. That would have been cheaper. But it's still great value anyway. The prices in the restaurant are higher than the old menu on their website. They should update that.”

“I went for the buffet. Definitely better value than ordering a la carte. The soup tasted great, the sauce station was clean, and the pork and meatballs were very delicious. The vegetables were fresh, and the service was excellent.”
