Lily’s Dumpling
Quick info
About Lily’s Dumpling
Lily's Dumpling is a Chinese restaurant in London, on Hatton Wall, where Chinese BBQ skewers seasoned with cumin and chilli share the menu with dumplings and hot pot. Sichuan aubergine and a set of salt and pepper dishes round out the savoury side, and desserts close the menu. Diners order by scanning a QR code. The space is small, with mostly tables for 2 to 4 people and a couple of larger tables for 5 to 6, which gives groups a few places to sit together. A queue forms on busy nights. The kitchen opens late, so the restaurant works for a late-night meal at 58 Hatton Wall.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the Chinese barbecue skewers, praised as well seasoned with plenty of cumin and chilli, with the grilled eggplant close behind. Diners also single out the mouth watering chicken in chilli oil, sichuan aubergine, salt and pepper wings, squid and ribs, and the fried beef rice, plus dumplings and desserts. Portions are described as sizeable and good for sharing, and several mention the late opening and a lively atmosphere that is not loud. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, with one reviewer saying they went the extra mile on a gluten free request and another noting free cold dishes handed out during a busy wait. The caveats are small: one reviewer found the egg fried rice mushier than liked and the ginger and spring onion chicken lacking flavour, and another noted a wait for food with only two staff serving. One diner who booked a table skipped the queue forming as they left.

“Authentic Chinese skewers and dishes - you can scan and order on QR code. Family run and they are so lovely - it was busy tonight and they gave free cold dishes and extras without prompt whilst you waited. We booked a table so didn’t need to wait - there were people queuing when we left. Would come back and recommend you try if you’re in the area.”

“Food was tasty and full of flavour. The skewers were well seasoned with plenty of cumin and chilli, and the grilled eggplant was also very good. Portions were decent and the dishes felt great for sharing. The style is more casual and down-to-earth rather than fancy, but the overall experience was enjoyable. A good place to visit if you want Chinese-style barbecue and stronger flavours.”
