About Mr Wong
Mr Wong is a Chinese restaurant at 65 Red Lion St in London, open daily and built around Chongqing rice noodles served in broth. The pickled chili beef version leads the menu, and diners can add toppings such as braised pig intestines. The spice level can be adjusted to suit the diner. The space is small with limited seating, and a wait for a seat is common. Wong Lo Kat herbal tea is sold in cans.

“Absolutely amazing place to have authentic Chinese food. The place is small and cozy. You'll hear mostly Chinese in the conversations around you. Mind that for European standards "less spicy" on the menu gives you already quite a level of spicyness. We discovered this place because it is close to our hotel and it is a gem.”

“Good place for authentic Chongqing spicy rice noodles. Reasonably priced and good portions.”

“This malatang is sooo good! The flavours are amazing, and they have loads of ingredients I’ve never seen before. Definitely recommend!”

“The iron pot rice noodles in this restaurant are extremely popular in China. They are famous for their spiciness. I really love their rice noodles. I couldn't get them for a while. Now I can finally have them and don't have to wait in line anymore.”
- Hester Gao
“Been loving this place for years!!! Defo the best malatang destination in London!”

Customer Review Summary
The recurring caution is heat. Reviewers warn that even "a little bit spicy" or "less spicy" is strong by European standards, and one advises against ordering a hot level on a first visit. Seating is the other trade-off: the room is small and intimate, and one reviewer waited about an hour for a table, while another mentions no longer having to queue. Several call it the best Chongqing rice noodle or malatang spot in London, and one diner pairs the bowl with a can of Wong Lo Kat herbal tea to cool down.
