About Beam
Beam is an independent cafe in Notting Hill, London, at 103 Westbourne Grove, serving breakfast, brunch and lunch alongside speciality coffee. The Beam Benedict pairs a shawarma-spiced lamb patty with a deep-fried egg, bringing Middle Eastern flavour to a brunch format. Turkish eggs and shakshuka sit next to it on a menu that mixes classic cafe plates with Middle Eastern-inspired ones. A dedicated coffee bar handles the espresso drinks, and smoothies and fresh pressed juices are made for those who want something cold. Freshly baked pastries and homemade cakes are also on offer. The kitchen includes vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free options.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Mediterranean breakfast, praised as fresh, full of flavour and generous without feeling heavy, and it turns up repeatedly alongside the Turkish eggs. Close behind are the shakshuka, called sensational by one diner, and the Beam Benedict, a shawarma spiced lamb patty and deep fried egg twist on the classic. Others mention crispy eggs with harissa sauce, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough, gluten free pancakes, a strawberry, banana and mango smoothie, and iced coffee that several call well made. Coffee drinks are described as perfectly balanced. Service draws warm comments, with one waitress and one server who explained the ingredients singled out, and staff who offered a small treat to a child. The caveats are modest. One reviewer found the portion slightly small compared with neighbouring cafes, and another felt the chicken salad did not match the rest of the menu. One reviewer also notes the adequate charging ports, and staff who asked a table whether anyone needed to do laptop work.

“This is one of the best places I’ve been for breakfast in the UK… the Shakshuka was absolutely sensational - and I feel like is the best order here . It’s a cool vibe as well, quite buzzy and nice decor. Will be back whenever I can 😅”

“Beam in Notting Hill was wholesome, filling and vibey. I ordered the Vegetarian Breakfast, mainly for the halloumi cheese and a fresh pressed pear juice. For my parents, orange juice, a cappuccino, the gluten free pancakes, and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. This is a great spot if you’re a remote worker and even though we were here to hang out, the staff greeted us and asked if we needed to do any laptop work.”

“Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with delectable food/drink. Highly recommend their take on the classic Benedict with deep fried egg and the lamb patty. All the coffee drinks we had were perfectly balanced. 5 stars.”
