“I think I have found my favourite coffee place! I was out on a stroll of Notting Hill and needed a coffee place to sit, work, and enjoy coffee. A lot of laptop café hoggers have made it impossible to find such a place but Mawi is different: You have spaces reserved for regular non-laptop customers (you know, the ones that give these places the good energy) but also cater for the laptop folk with a nice table. The coffee is excellent; I tried a flat white which was smooth with a well balanced presence of cream hints (I opted for a nice cows' milk :) ) and immediately made a plan to clear the rest of the options. It has a calm vibe with very reasonably priced coffee. The cakes and cookies (which I tried, I won't speak of what I did not try) are lovely. I will definitely visit again!”

“Absolute gem of a place, great cafe with a very simple but extremely well made breakfast. Big portions, even for hungry kids and smoothies were nice . Lovely spot.”

“I’ve been visiting Mawi every morning for their delicious yogurt granola, but today’s was on another level. It was prepared by a lovely lady, Nina, and you could genuinely taste the care and effort she put into it. Absolutely amazing, I love this place. Only small caution: they do occasionally run out of fresh fruit, which feels like karma catching up with me… but hey‑ho.”

“I went here because there are 3 people in a queue at Guillam which I usually go and i was in a rush. Walked into Mawi next door and had a cappuccino to go. They used chocolate shavings instead of powder which allows you to taste the chocolate properly, a nice touch. I actually prefer this vs Guillam's but it is personal taste. Very polite service and although I didnt stay long I like the decor and atmosphere, relaxed rather than instagramable glam I guess. Good find.”

“Nice interior design and such a cute place to visit. They have a laptop zone, but it’s only one long table — laptops aren’t allowed at the other tables. The chocolate croissants were fresh and really tasty for a good price. One downside though: I noticed an ant climbing on the table during my visit 🤨🥲”

Customer Review Summary

Drinks draw the most praise, led by chai: one reviewer returned repeatedly for the iced chai, and another calls the dirty chai the best, in a big cup. Close behind are a smooth flat white, a cappuccino topped with chocolate shavings instead of powder, and a matcha described as silky. Food gets plenty of mentions too. Reviewers name the orange cake, apple pie, blueberry muffin, fresh chocolate croissants, bagels, yogurt granola, and smashed avo on sourdough, with big breakfast portions that suit hungry kids. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and calm, with laptops limited to one long table. Criticism is less frequent but specific. One visitor found the coffee flat and not very hot, and an egg and avocado sandwich still cold after being heated, with uncomfortable chairs. Another noticed an ant on a table, and one regular says the fresh fruit occasionally runs out. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and lovely, and one reviewer who spilled an iced chai had it remade by a server.
