About The Union Tavern
The Union Tavern is a pub in London at 52 Lloyd Baker St, with a bar and a gastropub menu that changes. A scotch egg with curry mayo works as a starter or a bar snack, and hand-pulled beers sit alongside the food. Mains include hake and steak and fries, and fish and chips with mushy peas is also on the menu. A toffee pudding covers dessert. Customer Review Summary
Lamb draws the warmest praise, from Sunday roast lamb chops with gravy that one diner ranks among the best they have eaten out, to a lamb shin with potatoes and aubergine called delicious. Close behind is the Scotch egg, paired with curry mayo in one review and served with chorizo as a bar snack in another. Reviewers also name the hake, toffee pudding, chocolate brownies with ice cream, and a beer selection that includes three hand pulled options. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, though one diner found a waitress dismissive when serving dessert, and another agreed with a sign asking for more service staff. Not every dish lands. One reviewer found most of the fried fish moist and unappetizing and the sticky pudding dry, and another felt the meat in the steak frites did not match its price. A party that booked brunch for the morning after a wedding reported fantastic service, and one regular hopes the lobster croquettes make it onto the main menu.

“The food is excellent, and most of the staff are very welcoming and friendly. This was my second visit, and I was really enjoying the experience until the very end. Unfortunately, a waitress with a pink hair who had just arrived served my dessert in a very unfriendly way. She simply placed it in front of me without saying anything, and her attitude came across as quite dismissive and snobbish. It was disappointing, especially after such a positive experience up to that point. People don’t go to good restaurants simply because they are hungry; they go for the overall experience. Great food matters, but the way guests are treated matters just as much. Thank you, and I hope this feedback is taken positively.”

“An excellent choice. I had the lamb shin with potatoes and aubergine and it was absolutely delicious. The toffee pudding was great too. The staff was great. Would recommend for anyone staying near King's Cross.”

“We were staying over the road in the Park Plaza so called in for a beer and sat outside on a warm the June evening. Great beer selection with three hand pulled beers plus lots of other choice. Typical English pub with really friendly staff. We sampled the scotch egg and chorizo bar snacks which were very good. The food menu looks good and look forward to coming back to try it.”
