  “We visited The Crown Tavern on Mother’s Day as a family, taking our mum out for lunch. We’d made a reservation and on arrival were warmly greeted and shown to our table. As a Mother’s Day gesture, we were offered complimentary glasses of sparkling wine, which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately, only two glasses were brought out for the three of us, which made for a slightly awkward start. We made sure Mum had one, so one of us went without. The service initially was friendly and we placed our order without any issues. My brother ordered the fish and chips, while Mum and I both chose roast dinners. Unfortunately, our two roasts arrived at least 10 minutes before my brother’s meal, meaning we weren’t able to eat together. By the time his food finally arrived, Mum and I had almost finished. It was disappointing on what was meant to be a special family meal, and it took away from the experience. We did enjoy our desserts and coffees, which were both very nice. The end of the meal was equally frustrating. Once we were ready to pay, there were no staff around. After waiting more than 10 minutes to ask someone to bring the bill, we eventually got up and paid at the bar so we could leave. We’ve visited The Crown Tavern several times over the years as it’s local to Mum, and we’ve generally had good experiences. That’s why this visit was particularly disappointing. While there were some positives, the poor timing of the food and lack of attention at the end of the meal meant this Mother’s Day lunch didn’t live up to expectations. Sadly, it has made us think twice about returning.”

  “Have not eaten in the crown tavern for a while and was very pleasantly surprised by our excellent lunch today. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food and friendly service. Camilla was super helpful (we wanted a particular table which she sorted out for us). Will definitely be back for food again.”

  “Found it by chance and honestly wanted to gatekeep. Lovely staff, busy on a Wednesday! Loved my fries and the bathroom 😁 Go by with mates or just chill”

  “Loved this pub. Really good Sunday roast, fabulous beer and for such a central venue, reasonably priced. I’d like to mention our waitress whose name I think is Rocio, she was really sweet and helpful”
