About The Alma
The Alma is a pub on Old York Road in London, set in a Grade II listed Victorian building with glazed green tiles, across the road from Wandsworth Town station. Boutique bedrooms fill the upper floors, and breakfast is served to staying guests. Downstairs, an island servery sits in the main bar, and a dining area occupies the former billiard room at the back. The bar pours local real ales and craft beers. In the kitchen, the Sunday roast includes a cote de boeuf roast, and the menu also lists a lamb scotch egg and king scallops. Milk bread arrives with a spread or butter. TVs show live sport, including rugby and football.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast is what diners praise most, with generous portions, well-cooked meats and a cote de boeuf version among those named. Close behind are the King Scallops, described as meaty and smokey, and the milk bread with butter or spread, which one parent says their young child loved. Others name the oysters, a lamb scotch egg, a Picante and sticky toffee pudding. Reviewers describe a crowded, buzzy room on rugby days, and some enjoyed eating while watching the match and stayed for two. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and attentive, and overnight guests praise the room, the front desk and the breakfast. The main complaint comes from one Saturday evening visit, when the rugby volume was turned up until conversation was impossible, a request to lower it was refused, and a medium rare steak arrived well done. One reviewer wanted more dessert choice, and another found the pint above average in price. One diner asked for extra gravy and extra potatoes and got both free of charge.

“Was met by Liga who had a huge smile to welcome us in and take us to our tables. The place was very crowded but we still got to still in a quiter area and had a wonderful experience. Food was so yummy, my daughter 6 year old enjoyed every bit of it and loved the milk bread with butter and chicken tikka. Liga's service and Head Chef Mahesh food were exceptional.”

“Our generous and kind son put us up at the Alma for the night, It was absolutely fabulous! The room was spotlessly clean, fitted out with absolutely beautiful furnishings and such a comfortable bed. The wonderful Izzy on the front desk was so welcoming and helpful and the breakfast in the morning was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this beautiful place whether you pop in for a drink, something to eat or are fortunate enough to stay the night!”

“I definitely recommend coming to The Alma. It’s quite hard nowadays to find a pub that does fantastic food and has a great vibe - this is it! I had a Picante (which was excellent), the lamb scotch egg, the cote de boeuf Sunday roast, and my partner and I shared the sticky toffee pudding. Literally, it was all SO good! I had asked for extra gravy as well as extra potatoes which they happily provided free of charge. Staff (in particular Liga) were friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to come back!”
