About The Waterfront

The Waterfront is a pub in London on Baltimore House, run as a gastropub, restaurant and bar with a seasonal British menu and a wine list alongside its beer. A terrace overlooks the River Thames beside Wandsworth Bridge, so drinks and meals come with a view of the water. Fish and chips are on the menu, and Sundays bring roast dinners of beef, pork or chicken, plus a combo plate. Football matches show on screen for people who come to watch the games. Orders go through an app or at the bar. The pub is open daily, and music plays loudly in the evening.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the service, with reviewers repeatedly crediting individual servers as friendly and attentive, whether for a football match, a family birthday dinner or a mid-afternoon drinks break. The fish and chips and a fish cake that one reviewer called the best they had ever had are the dishes named in praise, and the riverside terrace and views come up often. One reviewer says staff were accommodating in moving a rained-out outdoor birthday party inside, and another found the music too loud to hear conversation.

“Oh dear… not good. Tonight, my friends and family went to the Waterfront in Battersea for a roast dinner. The online reviews looked pretty decent, as did the pictures, so we were reasonably optimistic. Unfortunately, that’s where the positivity came to an end. There was a bit of a mismatch between the menu and what was actually available — cauliflower cheese, for example, was off the cards. No big deal, we thought. We’ll just crack on with the roasts. We ordered a mixture of roast beef, the combo (pork, chicken and beef), pork, and a portion of fish and chips. First up: portion sizes. I genuinely wondered whether we’d accidentally ordered from the kids’ menu. Three small roast potatoes, some overcooked vegetables, gelatinous “gravy”, and a Yorkshire pudding so dry that, had you dropped it, I’m fairly sure it would have shattered like a plate in a Greek restaurant. Then came the meat. My friend’s chicken was pink and bloody in the middle, while my roast beef was so tough it could probably have been used to sole my leather shoes. 😂 Unfortunately, the service didn’t really improve things. The staff were pleasant enough, but they seemed a little unsure and, more importantly, weren’t particularly attentive. No mustard, extra gravy, salt or pepper was offered, and once the plates were put down, that was pretty much it. Even trying to get someone’s attention to flag that the food wasn’t great proved surprisingly difficult. To their credit, when we eventually managed to raise the issues, a manager came over, listened and said he would “sort the bill out” for us. We assumed that meant the two worst meals would be removed. When the bill arrived, however, everything was still on there. Thankfully, I spotted it before anyone paid, and they did then amend the bill and remove the two dishes without any argument - so credit where it’s due. If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a cold drink and enjoy the view over the Thames, perhaps give it a go. The setting is certainly nice. If, however, you’re looking for a good Sunday roast, I’d probably spend your money elsewhere. London has plenty of better options. Hopefully this was just an off day, but at these prices, the kitchen really needs to raise its game and someone needs to be keeping a much closer eye on what’s leaving it…”

“We had dinner at the waterfront on a Tuesday evening. We had to send the food back because it was cold and they were so understaffed no one could serve you - took so long to get 2 soft drinks when we ordered on the app and at the bar. Nice view and comfortable to sit outside but not worth the money.”

“Great place to get together and watch a football match. Good food, everything was tasty… no complaints. We were greeted and seated by Sophie who was lovely and friendly all evening. Everyone we interacted with were friendly and helpful… I would happily go back.”
