About The Crown Inn
The Crown Inn is a Wetherspoon pub in Knaresborough, at 71-75 High St, with a real fire burning inside. The bar pours real ales, including Rooster's Yorkshire Pale, and the food menu runs from a gourmet loaded jacket potato with garlic butter, maple bacon and cheese to an all-day brunch that comes with coffee refills. Customers order at the table or through the app, and condiment bottles are self-serve. Toilets are upstairs. Paid parking is available at the back of the building.

Customer Review Summary
The loaded gourmet jacket potato draws the clearest complaint. Two reviewers say it came with minimal toppings, one noting it was a very small jacket with more of a sprinkling than a loading, the other that the garlic butter was missing and the bacon looked like leftover breakfast bacon. One of them also had food arrive before drinks and went to find the drinks themselves. Cleanliness is split: some call it clean with spotless toilets, while others mention grubby surroundings and no clean tables during a short-staffed visit.

“Arrived, chose table and ordered. Ordered the gourmet loaded spud with garlic butter, maple cured bacon, cheese and sour cream and also a ham and mushroom pizza. Food arrived before the drinks which is unusual, to say it really wasn't that busy, waited another few minutes and then went to find the drinks myself. To say it was suppose to be a loaded spud I would say more a sprinkling, very small jacket with minimal topping, tasted good but not much of it. Pizza was spot on as usual. To say you pay extra for the gourmet it wasn't anything special and have learnt my lesson not to order again.”

“App was not working, didn't have the ingredients to make some of the spritzes and food very disappointing. Ordered one of the gourmet jackets which listed garlic butter, cheese and crispy maple bacon as the toppings. The garlic butter was missing and the bacon was sliced up left over breakfast bacon. Surroundings were grubby. I'm normally a fan of Wetherspoons with it being cheap and cheerful. But this was dismal and disappointing. All round poor show.”

“You could essentially leave the same review for every Wetherpoons, bar the comments about the interior, but I decided to review my local as it's the one I attend the most frequently. The food is easily the best value meal you're going going to get anywhere, relatively large portions for dirt cheap (compared to other places), cocktails (in my opinion) taste the same if not better than most bars, are a quarter of the price and much larger, pints and other drinks are spare change, less than £2 for some pints is so awesome, the staff are very friendly, service is incredibly fast and being able to grab your own full bottles of condiments, from such a large selection, is very much appreciated. The ONLY comment I would make that's slightly negative is it could be cleaner, but when your 5 staff to 30 customers (when it's quiet, including behind-bar staff), staff can only do so much, and they clean and clear as best they can, also the cosy and calm interior make up for it anyway 😊. Highly recommended, you won't regret visiting!”

“Had the All-day-brunch and a coffee for £5.75 with as many coffee fill ups as you want. I don't know how they do it for the price.”

“No clean tables in the whole pub, seemed very short staffed, didn't stay to try a drink or food.”
