About The Bingley Arms
The Bingley Arms is a 1000 year-old stone pub on Church Ln in Leeds, set in a village surrounded by trees and countryside. Staff show visitors the priest holes, and the building also holds an Inglenook fireplace, a Dutch oven and wooden beams. The menu offers large and small portions. The Sunday roast comes with cauliflower cheese and a choice of how the meat is cooked, and booking is needed for it. Steak & ale pie is served with hand cut chips, and sticky toffee pudding is also on the menu. The pub is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays. Dogs are welcome in the tap room, through the left door.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the dish diners return to most, with reviewers praising the generous vegetables, a cauliflower cheese packed with cheese and meat cooked to the chosen doneness. One repeat visitor says booking is needed. Close behind is the steak and ale pie, described as a big portion with a good crust and hand cut chips. Others mention turkey wrapped in bacon, sea bass and sticky toffee pudding. The recurring complaint is the vegetables. One roast diner found them not warm enough to finish, and a New Year's Eve party called the roast potatoes chewy and the sprouts solid hard, though they thought the turkey delicious. One reviewer also found the food and beer the same as anywhere. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and reviewers like the beer garden and the tap room, where dogs are welcome and one couple's dog was given treats. Several value the building's history, and one visitor describes staff showing them the priest holes and explaining them in detail before they left.

“Came here on NYE for a family get together meal. We were quickly seated by a lovely friendly female and orders taken in good time by another lovely lady. A few of us ordered the same meal of the turkey wrapped in bacon. When everyone's meals arrived, we found the turkey to be absolutely delicious, the downside to our meals was that the roast potatoes seemed looked they had been reheated or kept under heat due quite some time as they were chewy, the sprouts were solid hard (I like veg al dente, but these were inedible), the rest of the veg was lovely. We didn't mention this about the veg to the waitress as it didn't feel right owing to the occasion we were all there, was the 1st anniversary of my Dads passing. This would most certainly not put me off going again for a meal, as the pub and stuff are lovely. The table in which we were seated was on a lovely small room to the front of the pub. I found the location to be a lovely area, and the pub so interesting with it's history. Looking forward to going back again soon.”

“Beautiful historic pub i visited a few months ago, claiming to be the oldest tavern in England with charming older ladies who took care of myself and my cousin. The food was delicious and hearty typical pub fare with some international options thrown in, the service was spectacular and the ladies even took it upon themselves to show us the priest holes just before we left and explained them in much detail. Walking into this building you feel at awe with the history this building holds and the staff really help to highlight this. I can't wait to stop through again next time i'm in the area.”

“Was amazing to visit a place that was established over 1100 years ago, if the walls could talk. Food and beer was same as anywhere. Buy the pub was located in a beautiful location surrounded by trees and countryside in a wonderful stone building. I wanted to see it, because of the history”

“We had a roast again this Sunday. This time it was at The Bingley Arms! All of it was lovely. You can't get any more cheese into their cauliflower cheese. The meat was wonderful and you get the choice of how you like it. I asked for very rare and I wasn't disappointed. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that all the veg was amazing, but it just wasn't warm enough. It was cooked perfectly, but maybe it was just left resting in the kitchen too long? It was tasty enough to still try to eat, but I eventually gave up.”

“Top notch Pub, myself and the wife called up for an Earlyvtea andcwasn't disappointed. Wife chose Sea bass ( sorry no photo) but secretly enjoyed, and I chose Steak & Ale pie with hand cut chips 😋 Pie was fab meaty & a good crust, very tasty, hand cut with some stolen chips from my wife. This was followed sharing sticky toffee pudding OH MY DAYS. Will we be returning to endulge ourselves again, thanks team keep up the good work 5*”
