Customer Review Summary
Pies and roasts anchor the praise here, with the steak pie singled out most often: one diner called the steak and ale pie rustic and delicious, and another, chasing a proper Derbyshire pie, served with chips and mushy peas, rated it among the best value pie meals they have eaten. Close behind, reviewers describe a Sunday roast eaten to the last bite, with fresh Yorkshire puddings a highlight and kids' plates that were still generous. Fish and chips, rump steak, chilli and a toffee cheesecake also come up. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and the pub welcomed a dog and a small child without fuss. One family held a wake here and found the team kind and accommodating. The one sharply negative visit described cold food, including a cold starter, dry and rubbery salmon, forgotten potatoes and no cutlery on arrival, with nobody checking halfway through the meal. Other reviewers mention a gluten free menu and a good pint of Bass in excellent condition.

My son had hunters chicken & his wife & my partner had chilli-con-carne! Grandson had pizza! We all enjoyed! Little one got to take some of pizza home! Sooty got a treat to some of my steak, he really likes eating out!😀I wish I had taken photo’s!”

“Lovely food, the steak and ale pie was rustic and delicious, so was the chilli. Vert welcoming traditional public house, friendly staff and very reasonable prices.”

“We held my father’s wake at the white hart. From beginning to end it was perfect. Andy catered to every request and couldn’t have been kinder. What was such a rubbish day was made that little bit easier, thank you”

“Great local pub, serving a good range of food and a gluten free menu too, which my Wife was happy to see. Dog friendly and human friendly too lol. Under the latest management, it's a recommend from us!”

“Continuing our quest to find the Derbyshire pub serving proper steak Pie and a good pint of beer, we chose The White Hart having last been in the pub in the early 1970's. First impressions were positive with a friendly smile from behind the bar. We ordered the Steak Pie with chips and mushy peas and two pints of Bass which was in excellent condition. The portions of food was generous, hot and well presented and tasted delicious. All in all an excellent meal and rates highly of the 18 we have now sampled ant a price making it one of the best value pie meals we have eaten. We will certainly return in the future.”
