Customer Review Summary
Pies lead the praise, with reviewers singling out a hand made chicken balti pie full of flavor, a steak and stilton pie, and beef bourguignon on pie night. Close behind are the 8 hour stewed beef cheek with mash and red cabbage, a well cooked pork chop, and a festive meal with tender meat, stuffing and pigs in blankets. Cheesecake turns up as the dessert more than once. Beer earns steady credit too, with a fruity Parachute IPA and a decent range of well kept ales, and staff are described as friendly, welcoming and attentive. A couple of visitors also mention board games and a table by the fire. The complaints are about details. Vegetables draw the most grumbling, called frozen and pre packed in one review and just cabbage in another, and one reviewer found the mash lumpy. The nachos came out of a bag, and a burger night pint offer registered on only one of two pints. One diner waited a long time for food, and the delay led staff to take items off the bill.

“Great local pub with good beers, tasty food & quality staff. I had the pork chop & it was well cooked with thoughtful veg & lovely mash. All the beers are well kept & there's a decent range. Huge shout out to Aariyanna running the bar who works hard, is a great customer facing asset & a credit to the brand.”

“Great pub, great choice of food. Pie night I had the beef bourgignon. Sweet potato fries and seasonal veg with gravy. Fantastic quality and taste. Pudding of cheesecake and cream with fresh coffee. Excellent service from the staff. Comfy pub with good background music at just the right volume. Highly recommend 👌”

“Really nice cosy little pub. The food came out in a timely manner. I had the 8 hour stewed beef cheek which came with mash and red cabbage. It was incredibly beefy and flavourful and the portion was surprisingly quite good. For dessert I had the cheesecake, the waiter said it was honeycomb and nougat but it seemed like it was biscoff, regardless it was very nice. The price was reasonable for what you get.”

“Popped in on way back from hudsons garden centre. Really relaxed atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and had a good chinwag about the ales on offer (got to sample quite a few) Bagged table by fire and relaxed with lots of board games on offer. Ordered kids some food which came quick. Was really nice and good portions. Definitely will visit again as outdoor areas looked nice and chill”
