Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what most reviewers come for, with the roast pork singled out as melt in the mouth and the portions described as huge enough that one diner's doggie bag lasted two more meals. Fish and chips draws repeated praise for crispy fish and well-seasoned chips, and the crushed minted peas split opinion: one loves them, another finds them a bit weird. Close behind are the pie and chips, sausage and mash with red cabbage, the Breadsall burger, and a baby Guinness brownie and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Others mention a passionfruit martini and an afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream. Vegetarians note a large menu, and several describe friendly, attentive staff and the fresh new decor under new management. The one caution is price, with a reviewer calling it not the cheapest in the area, though others call it great value. Birthday celebrations come up repeatedly, including free balloons handed over at the table.

“Called in for a sample of fish n chips. Fish very nice, chips also. Minted, crushed, crunchy peas a bit wierd. Lovely little countrified place, and hence not the cheapest place in the area. Outdoor seating area and plenty of car parking. Well worth a visit.”

“These guys deserve 5*, we visited yesterday after noticing they have good vegetarian options, but didn’t realise until we got there the huge menu they have for veggies, we were so happy because most pubs are really poor offering about 3 repetitive options but apparently the chef is veggie so they obviously cared about the menu. The food when it came out was absolutely delicious, it’s all home made, not a chain, not only that but we didn’t wait long, the service was really friendly, the pub itself was cozy and really nicely decorated, it was just such a nice experience. I’ve sent the menu to my family because we’re coming back! Think we’ve found our new local! ☺️”

“Had Afternoon Tea with my daughters & grandaughter for my birthday & i was very impressed indeed. The table was set beautifully, with lovely china plates & tea cups & wow, when the food was brought to the table, it looked excellent & tasted even better. A selection of sandwiches, cakes & of course scones with clotted cream! I really cant fault it & i'd highly recommend. Its booking in advance & worth the price easily 😀 Thanks to the staff who were equally as good. Debbie Owen, (Georgia's mum)”

“Had a brilliant Mothers day Sunday lunch at the Windmill. Everyone was super friendly and the food was very yummy. Family of four all with Sunday roasts left feeling very full and happy. Team looked after us very, right level of attentiveness making sure we were ok, but not pestering. Food was hot, fresh and incredibly nice. We will be back, thank you”

“Had a lovely meal with a friend this evening. We had sausage and mash with the most wonderful red cabbage and pie and chips. The pie was gorgeous! We didn't really have room for pudding but we managed to squeeze a sticky toffee pud down and it was worth the squeeze. The service was great, the staff are very attentive. I would highly recommend this place and will be back to try the Sunday lunch! Thankyou for my lovely birthday balloons too 🤗”
