Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the home cooked food and generous portions, with a Sunday roast, scampi with its side salad, and pub chips singled out as highlights. Several describe the staff as friendly and the atmosphere as cosy, with a real fire, quirky decor and a conservatory table found for a walk-in party. Others point to the family and dog friendly feel, with a large beer garden and play area, and one enjoyed a Bowland brewery beer from an independent brewer. A few say the menu is limited, and one reviewer who only wanted nachos and fries noted this. The sharpest complaint comes from a returning diner whose Sunday beef was stringy with hard fat around the edge. The waitress apologised when told, but nothing further was offered, and that reviewer said they would not return. Elsewhere, one burger menu request was granted even though it was not burger day.

“Great to call in here - I'm originally from the next village but have lived 100 miles away for over 40 years. Excellent to see beers from an independent brewery - had Bowler from Bowland brewery.”

“Visited this lovely pub with my mother, who came over from Hungary to see us. I wanted to show her what a proper English Sunday roast is like, and wow — I chose the right place. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the bar, where everything was clearly explained. Despite not having a reservation, a table was ready for us in the conservatory. We quickly decided and placed our order at the bar, where the lady serving us was polite, friendly, and very professional. She kindly helped my mother choose a non-alcoholic drink, even though she doesn’t speak English at all. The food was served fairly quickly by a friendly and professional young man with a great sense of humour — just the right amount of jokes to make us feel relaxed and welcome. Check-backs were done properly, the food was amazing, and the portions were generous. We will definitely be back, at least with my missus, as we only live a short walk away. Great job, Coaches & Horses 🔥 — it was a wonderful experience for us.”

“Having been before and had lovely meals, this time it was very disappointing. The beef was stringy with a hard fat around the edge. I told the waitress...and the bar staff. She did apologise but that was it. We will not go again because I'm sure for £17 per person we can get better”
