About The Rose And Crown
The Rose And Crown is a pub on Main Rd in Ilkeston, and its story starts in 1786 as a wooden shed built to serve the growing coach trade, before it was rebuilt in 1937. The kitchen cooks seasonal pub classics, with a Sunday roast that includes pork belly, roast turkey and a steak pie of the day. Slow cooked beef shin is also on the menu, and the Pimms Strawberry Trifle sits among the desserts. Cask ales are poured at the bar, where dogs can sit with diners. The roast works as a walk-in, with no need to book ahead. For groups, the team takes large bookings and sends the food out together, including for a party of 20.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with diners describing a roast turkey plate piled with potatoes and vegetables, a pork belly roast in a huge portion, and a steak pie of the day. Close behind, the slow cooked beef shin and the signature burger are praised for arriving hot and well presented, and one reviewer singles out the Pimms Strawberry Trifle among the desserts. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, including on a busy day, and several say they made birthday and Valentine's meals feel special. Dog owners note that dogs could sit with them in the bar area and that staff made a fuss of one small dog. One reviewer cautions that prices are not cheap pub grub, though they were happy with them after checking beforehand. Another, who organised a surprise meal for 20, says the group was accommodated easily and the food came out all together.

“Lovely pub, beautiful decor, friendly atmosphere, you can dress casual or smart and feel comfortable. Food was excellent 👌🏻 compliments to the chefs! Staff were lovely and amiable; Lottie, Ruby and Holly (i think!) made a birthday meal feel special ❤️ We were happy with the prices, we had checked before booking (but it's not wetherspoons, so don't turn up expecting cheap pub grub!)”

“Visited today for a Sunday roast. The roast turkey meal was delicious and plenty of potatoes and vegetables on the plate. Delicious desserts too, I had the Pimms Strawberry Trifle. Would definitely recommend the Rose and Crown and we'll definitely be back soon. Great service and friendly staff especially our server Gemma.”
