About Wheatsheaf Kirk Ella
Wheatsheaf Kirk Ella is a pub in Hull on Packman Lane, with a bar area for drinks and a dining room for meals. The bar pours ales, wines, gins and cocktails, and drinks can be ordered from the table without a trip to the bar. The kitchen covers pies, steaks and burgers, including the Hawkstone beef pie and the Ultimate burger, which comes with a gluten-free option. Gravy arrives in a pot on the side, so diners pour as much as they like. Sticky toffee pudding sits on the dessert list. The pub is spacious, with tables set well apart. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along for a drink or a meal.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the main draw, with diners praising good-sized, hot portions and a three-course Sunday menu they call great value. Close behind are the Hawkstone beef pie, the steak and ale pie, the mixed grill and a steak, all described as delicious or cooked to perfection. The Ultimate burger and sticky toffee pudding also get named, along with an apple and cherry crumble. A gravy pot served on the side is singled out as a welcome touch. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and one reviewer liked ordering drinks from the table. Complaints are small but concrete. One diner was told of a long wait for food due to high demand, though it arrived sooner and gave time to relax over drinks. Two reviewers found the Ultimate burger's pulled pork unavailable, and one of them settled on a gluten-free burger. Another found the inside a bit chilly. Several reviewers mention being seated promptly, one without a booking, and another was told up front which dishes were off the menu.

“Food and staff were excellent. Was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. Not been here for years. My only criticism was it was a bit chilly in there. But the food and the staff made up for it . Would recommend and return.”

“Great pub and great staff. The atmosphere was very quiet which I enjoyed and made the occasion nice and improved the experience for myself. The only downside would be that we both wanted the Ultimate burger but unfortunately there was no pulled pork available. I was still able to have a GF burger so all in all a good trip.”

“On arrival we was made to feel welcome and even though we hadn't booked we was found a table. We was told what was not available from the menu which helped so not disappointed once we gad choose our food. Drinks order was do from the table which was nice we never had to stand at a bar and order. Food was nice and hot and presented lovely and tasted really nice and what was nice was a gravy pot on the side so food was not drowned in gravy.”

“Very spacious pub with tables well set apart. Quickly greeted upon arrival and seated promptly. Informed that there was upto a 45 minute wait for food to be served once ordered due to high demand. (Turned out to be 30 minutes). To be fair we didn't think that was too bad as it gave time for us to relax, chat and enjoy our drinks. We had four sunday roasts, The ultimate burger and a child's sausage and mash. All arrived at once, nice and hot and with good sized portions. All were thoroughly enjoyed. Only two of us chose the desserts. Again it didn't dissapoint, sticky toffee pudding, delicious. All in all, an enjoyable & relaxed couple of hours spent in a friendly & hospitable atmosphere.”
