About Pave
Pave is a pub in Hull, at 16-20 Princes Ave, housed in a run of former shops where the original tiles from the old butchers shop are still on show. The drinks list covers beers, ales and ciders from around the world, poured on tap and stocked in the fridges, with cask conditioned real ales and Thatchers Gold on tap. Fair-trade tea and coffee are served through the day, alongside an eclectic menu. Events are hosted in the evenings, and live music turns up at times, including jazz and blues artists. The place works more as a bar than a traditional pub. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to Pave mainly for its beer selection, with Thatchers Gold on tap, cask conditioned real ales and bottled beers from around the world drawing the most praise. Close behind is the friendly, quick bar service, and one reviewer describes staff booking a taxi and letting a late group stay until it arrived. The house burger with blue cheese and a vegetarian platter get a mention, and a few enjoy the back garden, the front terrace and the lovely fire. Live music divides opinion: one reviewer enjoyed an afternoon gig, another found it pretty loud when trying to eat and chat, and a third mentions chilled jazz or blues on Sundays. Prices are the most repeated complaint. One reviewer calls nearly five pounds for a pint of Brooklyn an eye opener, and another says two bottles of lager cost too much and would visit more if prices came down. Two reviewers also say food was not available or that the food and live music are no longer what they were. One reviewer notes the original butcher shop tiles still on show.

“An old favourite haunt. Beer was still very good although food didn’t seem to be available when we went”

“Come here every time we play away at Hull and it is absolutely fantastic. Not a traditional pub but as good as anywhere in the country - owners and staff should feel really proud. Well staffed bar so service is friendly and incredibly quick. Genuinely nice smiley people, great selection of drinks with Thatchers Gold on tap. Seen the live music here once before on a previous season trip. Amazing venue lovely back garden and even better front terrace - even in the rain!”

“I do like this place, it used to have a reputation as the place to be with food and live music, neither are there anymore but I am a beer drinker so no loss there. Just a little on the expensive side, around £12 for two bottles of lagers, otherwise I love the place and would come more if they brought the prices down.”

“Pave is a popular bar in some former shops, the original tiles from the old butchers shop are still on show. There is an excellent choice of beers lager and cider including some cask conditioned real ales which were in excellent condition when I called in. This modern bar is nicely done out. There is an outside seating area at the front, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Pave is deservedly listed in The Good Beer Guide. Dog friendly, highly recommended.”

The kind staff provide excellent service, ensuring a pleasant visit. With good seating options both inside and outside, Pave creates a comfortable environment in a good area, making it a popular spot for those looking to try something new in a relaxed setting.”
