About Ramen Dayo
Ramen Dayo is a ramen restaurant at 44-46 Ashton Ln, on Ashton Lane in Glasgow's West End. It began in 2016 as a pop-up serving its original recipes from a hand-built cart down a Glasgow lane, and it now runs as a restaurant with limited seating. The menu centres on tonkotsu ramen with chashu pork belly, with an Aji-tama soft-boiled egg available as an add-on, and a Devil ramen sits alongside it. Starters and sides include edamame, with a chilli and garlic version, and chicken karaage. Rice bowls and donburi, such as chicken teriyaki and diced chashu, cover the non-noodle options, and vegan options are available. Dogs are welcome, which suits guests visiting with a pet. Inside, Japanese decor comes through in the lighting and the wall displays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the ramen, with the Tonkotsu and a devil ramen named alongside broth and noodles described as the perfect firmness, and a few calling it the best ramen they have had. Close behind are the sides and non-ramen dishes: chilli and garlic edamame, takoyaki, chicken karaage, pumpkin croquettes, and a vegetable katsu curry, plus black sesame ice cream for dessert. Several praise the vegan-friendly options and the friendly, quick service, and describe quirky decor and a cosy atmosphere on Ashton Lane. The recurring trade-off is space and timing. Seating is limited, and a few suggest booking early, while one diner on an hour slot felt rushed and had no time for dessert. Rice bowls drew a mixed verdict, with one reviewer finding the chicken teriyaki and diced chashu dry and heavy on soy, though the ramen was still decent. One reviewer found the background music did not match the decor. Takoyaki arriving piping hot with no warning from staff is one diner's closing note.

“Beautiful authentic interior from the lighting to the wall displays. Located in a very pretty part of the city, close to the university; feels like going to Diagon Alley for dinner 🪄 Very friendly staff who are keen to make sure you're enjoying your dining experience. Amazing food, hands-down the best place for ramen in Glasgow, no contest. 10/10 easily”

“A lovely Japanese restaurant that had lots of different food options to choose from, not just ramen. The vegetable katsu curry that I had tasted amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great too, with relaxing music playing on the speakers and lots of decorations to make it look like a proper Japanese restaurant. The server was very friendly and the toilets were very clean too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the West End of Glasgow!”

“A little on the pricy side, but definitely worth it. Food was amazing, lots of options to add and modify to ramen main meals. The staff are so friendly and the new location is quite the upgrade.”

“always quiet, atmosphere is awesome great tunes, cute decor, delicious food with a lot of vegan friendly options that are cracking. tried a lot of different asian restaurants but this is in my top two for sure! the pumpkin katsu was awesome and my friends both said it was the best ramen they ever had.”

“Update: came for a second time and tried the rice bowls, and the two we ordered were both really bad (chicken teriyaki and diced chashu). Meats were really dry and the marinate was just too much soy, and I do like my soy! We had the devil ramen again and it was still decent so yea won’t come back for the donburis but for ramen it’s okay. Chicken karaage was yummy as always and bonus points for it being dog friendly. cute little place, not crazy amazing best ramen ever vibes but it satisfies the craving!”
