About Ox and Finch
Ox and Finch is a Scottish restaurant at 920 Sauchiehall St in Glasgow's Kelvingrove, open since May 2014. It won a Michelin Bib Gourmand within six months of opening and has kept the award every year since, and the Michelin stickers are displayed in the window. The menu is built around small plates, with dishes shared across the table. Beef tartare and whipped cod roe sit among the savoury options, and the dessert list includes a mango and passionfruit tart. A wine list runs alongside the food, and the restaurant is open daily. Staff mark up the menu to show which dishes suit food allergies.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out how staff handle food allergies, with several describing servers who marked up a menu to show what could be accommodated and what to avoid. Close behind are the shared small plates, with the beef tartare and haddock named repeatedly, along with whipped cod roe, burrata and monkfish. Desserts also draw praise, including the mango and passionfruit tart and a rhubarb and gingerbread trifle. The lamb is the recurring weak spot: one reviewer found the lamb shoulder did not resonate, and another found the lamb and orzo had too much going on with the spices. One reviewer called the food only average despite bold presentation, and another describes a server who seemed annoyed when asked for cleaner wine glasses, plus a wine mix-up on the bill. Two reviewers say reservations are hard to get and suggest booking ahead. One diner whose cocktail came out too spicy had it replaced, and the staff then checked that the chosen dishes would not be too spicy.

“We had a fantastic experience in this restaurant. The food is delicious and offers creative options. But what made it stand out the most in our case was the service. After being served a cocktail that was too spicy for me, they handled the situation with a lot of attention and expertise. They replaced my cocktail and even made sure our choices of dishes wouldn't be too spicy. Remarkable service and excellent food!”

“I’ve returned after long time and this time I tried some new dishes. As always I chose different dishes to share with my partner and each one was a explosion of flavors. To finish, we had two desserts to cleanse the palate of strong flavors. Service was friendly and professional”

“The waitstaff was patient and knowledgeable about our party's food allergies, and marked up a menu just for us to know what could be done to accommodate and what to avoid. Everything we tried was absolutely brilliant, and I need to particularly call out the mango and passionfruit tart - it is elegant and delicious and jiggly. I'll be thinking about it for weeks”

“We went here after seeing that this restaurant was Michelin recognised and we were not disappointed. The menu is creative and innovative. We went as a family of four and we each ordered different starters and mains, so we tasted 11 dishes including a couple of desserts. The whipped code roe was our favourite dish, followed closely by the haddock, burrata and salmon. The beef tartare was another standout. The least favourite was the lamb and orzo, a bit too much going on with the spices in the dish. Service was adequate, it was a busy Saturday evening and our server seemed to have tables inside and on the sidewalk. Our server was from Newcastle so a bit difficult to understand. We had a misunderstanding on the wine that I unfortunately identified on the bill. She was annoyed when we asked for wine glasses without lipstick marks from the prior patrons. We would return to Ox and Finch in a heartbeat. It is a selection we would be hard-pressed to find at home in Porto Portugal.”

“We were in Kelvingrove for a concert at the park, luckily they were able to fit in a walkin (no booking ).You know you're in for a treat when you see all the years of michelin stickers in the window. Classy small plates at an affordable price, this was the best food I've had in Scotland so far. Our waitress was really friendly, explaining the menu, how much to order, recommending some dishes (the Haddock), even taking our photo for us. Service was a good as the food. As food came out for other tables, we definitely had to save room for dessert, they all looked incredible. 3 plates each plus dessert all in £94. I’d recommend some dishes we had, but everything was top class, I don’t think you could go wrong”
