Customer Review Summary
Fondue is the most frequent draw. Reviewers praise the chocolate fondue with plenty to dip, the waffles in the dessert version, and cheese fondue added to frites with a burger. Close behind are the mussels, a French onion soup with a cheesy crouton, baked Camembert and a burger with chips described as fresh and tasty. The cosy, relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and the spacious beer garden, with Belgian, Scottish and German beers on tap, come up repeatedly, and servers are called lovely. The food draws a real split, though. One Sunday roast arrived with cold, chewy beef, and the caramel macchiatos were lukewarm and served in small cups. Another reviewer found the poutine chicken dry, the steak unseasoned and the mac n cheese unfinishable, and called the pretzel bites with fondue a waste. A gluten free roast came without the Yorkshire pudding at the same price. One party arrived for the moules only to find them sold out while the board outside still advertised the Moules Monday deal.

“I often go to Brel - just for the mussels. Went yesterday- had the best French onion soup with a cheesy crouton and a half pot of mussels. Delicious. The waitresses were lovely. Great service. I had an itison now voucher so it was good value. Just a great wee spot”

“We recently visited for Sunday roast after booking a table and the roast in advance. The presentation of the food was excellent, and the vegetables were delicious. Unfortunately, the beef was cold and extremely chewy, to the point that we couldn’t finish it, which was really disappointing. Although we had booked in advance, we were initially seated at what felt like the worst table. However, when we asked to move, the staff were accommodating, and the servers themselves were lovely throughout. The atmosphere is always cosy and welcoming, which is one of the things we’ve enjoyed about this place. Unfortunately, the drinks were another letdown. We ordered caramel macchiatos, but they were served lukewarm in what seemed like espresso-sized portions. At £5 each, this certainly didn’t feel like good value for money. Overall, the lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and presentation of the food were positives, but the quality of the beef and the disappointing drinks made the experience fall short of expectations. We had been looking forward to our visit, so it was a shame that the food and value for money didn’t match the otherwise lovely setting.”

“Great spot for beer garden drinking and dining with plenty of seating inside. Don’t be fooled by the front of the bar as the beer garden in the back is awesome and spacious. They gave Belgian, Scottish and German beers on tap.”

“a beautiful café and restaurant, full of the loveliest little details. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, with plenty of spacious indoor and outdoor seating. One visit is definitely not enough — you’ll want to come back and discover a different spot every time. Truly one of the most beautiful and unique places I visited in Glasgow. A must-visit! ✨”

“Great service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Our server Shannon provided fantastic and energetic service and didn’t miss a beat. Food was fantastic for the money and food portion sizes were great. Defo get the cheese fondue to add to your frites with your burger, Death by cheese! Thank you, next time I’m back in Glasgow I will come back.”
