About Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant & Bar
Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant & Bar is a country food restaurant at 325 Hope St in Glasgow, built around artisan produce sourced from the Highlands and Islands. The menu includes Cullen skink, a Scottish fish soup, and haggis, neeps and tatties, which comes as a starter or a main with a whisky cream. Hand-dived Barra scallops and a Speyside slow-braised beef short rib sit among the other dishes. A three-course market menu is available, and the Pre-Theatre Menu gives anyone heading to a show a set option, since the restaurant stands right next to the Theatre Royal. The bar serves whisky alongside the food.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to the Cullen skink, called delicious and comforting, with close behind it the haggis, neeps and tatties, one reviewer who doubted haggis ended up praising it. Scallops draw repeated praise as sweet and cooked to perfection, and the Speyside slow-braised beef short rib is described as falling apart with a fork. Reviewers also single out the sticky toffee pudding as light and fluffy, and the cheese board with spiced apple chutney. Staff are called friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and one team brought a bowl of water and biscuits for a dog unprompted. The main complaints concern meat: the wild venison pavé was a bit tough, and a rare sirloin arrived slightly on the blue side, with one parent finding the fat hard for a child to cut through. Several describe the market menu as good value, and one reviewer suggests making a reservation in advance. One anniversary table was greeted with a glass of bubbly on the house.

“We don't have big appetites, so we weren't able to order many dishes, but everything we tried was delicious and really gave us a taste of Scotland. We also really appreciated that the staff were very accommodating when we asked to share the dishes, without making us feel awkward at all. The service left a very good impression on us. As it is a popular restaurant, I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance.”

“Ardnamurchan Restaurant was a really nice experience, with friendly service, lovely food, and a great atmosphere inside. We arrived at around 1pm, and it started to get a little busier shortly afterwards as the late Monday lunch service picked up, possibly with people coming into town for the Commonwealth Games. The scallops were very good, as was the haggis, neeps and tatties starter. We opted for the market menu, which we thought offered good value for money. I’d particularly recommend the sirloin steak, although we made the mistake of ordering it rare and it came slightly on the blue side. I’d probably recommend ordering it medium-rare instead, particularly for children, as my daughter found the fat quite difficult to cut through. The children’s menu was good, and the kids were well catered for, with colouring activities provided, which is always a nice touch and helps keep them entertained while waiting for the food. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and thought it was good value for money. We paid just over £100 for four of us, including soft drinks, which we felt was very reasonable. We’d definitely recommend Ardnamurchan Restaurant.”

“We’re still thinking about this meal - it was that good. We went for a sharing approach so we could try a bit of everything. To start, we had the Cullen skink, hand-dived Barra scallops, rope-grown Shetland mussels, and grilled Isle of Skye langoustine. The scallops were sweet and delicate, the mussels came in a rich, fragrant broth we kept dipping into, and the langoustine was perfectly grilled and so fresh. The Cullen skink flavour was very well balanced and comforting, tying everything together. For the main, our waitress recommended the Speyside slow-braised beef short rib, so we went with her suggestion and shared that too. It was unbelievably tender, falling apart with a fork, with a deep, rich flavour that felt like the perfect contrast after the seafood. The staff were friendly throughout: attentive and helpful without ever feeling intrusive. Every dish felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and we left feeling well looked after. We’d absolutely recommend it if you want to experience excellent Scottish seafood and seasonal cooking done properly.”

“This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and I must say you shouldn't miss this experience if you come to Glasgow. The ambience is lively, with traditional Scottish music playing in the background and a modern decor providing a nice contrast. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We started our dinner with some sparkling Johnnie Walker Black Ruby drinks, which set a great tone for the rest of the evening. Our starters were a mix of traditional and modern takes. We tried a classic Cullen skink, which had less emphasis on the smokiness of the fish and focused more on the leek flavour, alongside a delicious portion of pan-seared scallops. The scallops were cooked to perfection and accompanied by crispy pork belly, sliced green apple, a delicious apple cider cream, and apple chutney. For mains, we went with the classic haggis, neeps, and tatties with a rich whisky cream, which was a deliciousa and comforting dish. We also ordered the wild venison pavé with redcurrant jus; unfortunately, it was a bit tough, but the flavours were nonetheless delicious. It came with a braised chicory with mustard gel, a fondant potato, and a carrot and apricot purée that offered a lovely sweet contrast to the chicory. As a side, we had the fine green beans with sweet mustard dressing and homemade pickles. To finish our dinner, we shared the Scottish cheese board, which came with cheddar, Blue Murder, brie, and peppery crowdie, served with oatcakes, sliced green apple, and the most delicious spiced apple chutney. We also had the lightest and fluffiest sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. The perfect way to end an amazing dinner.”

“2nd visit to Ardnamurchan, and they don't disappoint. Food is delicious, fresh ingredients, portions are good size. Good selection of fish and seafood, meat dishes, as well as options available for vegetarians and vegans. Their cullen skink is delicious! (Scottish traditional soup with fish) There wasn't anything that we didn't like, and we had a big selection, desserts were also great. Good selection of drinks. 3 course market menu is around £28 which is good value for the food you get.”

“WELCOME TO ARDNAMURCHAN Sourcing unique and artisan products from the Highlands and Islands is of great importance to us. So please, sit back and enjoy a dram or tuck into some of Scotland’s best offerings from land and shore. The name Ardnamurchan comes from the Gaelic ‘Àird nam Murchan’ translating as ‘headland of the great seas’ and is one of the UK’s great unspoiled wildernesses. Rugged, isolated and utterly wild, it juts into the Atlantic at the most westerly point of the British mainland. The area is renowned for the quality and freshness of it’s local produce, including fish and shellfish from the sea, lochs and rivers, deer, cattle and sheep raised in the hills and glens and wild game from the heaths and moorland.”
