About POP Coffee
POP Coffee is a coffee shop on Morningside Rd in Edinburgh, with local artists' paintings on the walls, some available for purchase. The counter serves filter coffee under the Brew Batch label alongside Black Americano, Cappuccino, and Flat White, with a babychino for younger visitors. A gluten free Caramel Espresso brownie sits next to the blueberry muffin, and banana bread and overnight oats round out the food options. Seating is limited and geared more toward a quick stop than lingering, though outlets at the tables allow for working on a laptop. Orders are taken at the counter on a walk-in basis, with no printed menu to browse while waiting. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome inside. It opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the coffee, with a Black Americano, flat white, cappuccino and batch brew filter singled out, and several call it excellent. Close behind are the food items: overnight oats that avoided being stodgy cold porridge, a gluten free caramel espresso brownie described as more mousse than brownie, a blueberry muffin, and fresh croissants. The room is described as quiet and peaceful for reading, with local art on the walls and a music playlist one reviewer kept Shazamming, though one finds the seating more functional than recreational and another calls it tight. Complaints are specific. One reviewer found a cold brew diluted and served in a tiny plastic cup even when sitting in, and questioned why V60 drippers sit unused with no filter coffee on the menu. Another was served regular milk instead of oat and received banana bread with butter the menu did not mention. A third saw mugs rinsed carelessly and some came out unclean, and they were replaced. One barista wrote down a song title on a napkin for a customer.

“Quiet, and with some seating, albeit more functional than recreational, a good place for one of multiple house pours or standard milked coffees with food options available”

“Lovely coffee shop. A type I’ve always wanted, no loud music no loud staff. Peaceful to sit and read papers or books. Students can also enjoy the atmosphere and focus. A request to owner, please keep the cafe open till 6:30pm or 7pm. I understand it may not be possible but me and my local friends would love it if we can stay a bit longer at my favourite cafe in weekends or a refresher coffee after a long day at work. ❤️”

“Excellent coffee with a great blend of sweet and bitterness (Black Americano). Chilled ambience with thoughtful touches and local artists’ paintings for sale on the wall. Bakes looked good. But what makes it exceptional is the music playlist with great tune after tune from the past 40 years. Seldom Shazamed so much - and just as I’m writing this one of the baristas came over with the name of the last tune written down on a napkin as they thought I’d been able to find it. This is just a wonderful place to relax, read and sip quality caffeine with high quality service too.”

“No menus to look at, took ages for someone to acknowledge me waiting to get one. I asked for the banana bread and a coffee with oat milk - got served normally milk, had to ask for it to be changed. Banana bread came with butter - not what was on the menu?? See photos”

“I enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was friendly enough to replace my beverage, however: 1. The cold brew was very diluted, it felt like the brewing ratio used was a lot lower than the standard. 2. It’s the first time for me to see a coffee shop selling iced beverages in such tiny cups (also applies to ice latte). 200 ml minus around 70 ml of ice is quite mingy for the price. Besides, I don’t understand why use plastic if we were sitting in 🤷♂️ 3. What is the point of having filter coffee brewing equipment such as V60 drippers if filter coffee isn’t on the menu? (Considering that batch brew wasn’t available either)”
