About Matcha Sando ◘ Edinburgh: Matcha, Coffee & Sandwich Shop
Matcha leads the drinks list at Matcha Sando, a coffee and sandwich shop on Bruntsfield Place in Edinburgh, where the focus extends into flavour combinations including smoky maple, sea salt maple, pistachio and strawberry. Matcha comes iced as a latte or served hot, hojicha is poured hot alongside it, and oat milk is offered as a milk option. The shop runs on walk-ins rather than bookings, and it opens daily. Seating spreads across a range of different spots, and free Wi-Fi means customers can settle in to study or work over a drink. Music plays inside. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without help. Work by local artists hangs on the walls and is available to buy.

Customer Review Summary
Matcha is what reviewers return for, described as properly made, true to Japanese tradition and more authentic than the chains. The smoky maple and sea salt maple versions get the most excitement, with several reviewers saying they converted a self-described non-fan. Close behind are the pistachio matcha with oat milk, said to taste of real pistachios, and the strawberry iced matcha latte. The hojicha is called deep and aromatic. Among the sandos, the egg sando is called incredible for its bread, while the strawberry sando drew the one criticism, a slightly sour cream filling. Reviewers also praise lovely, patient staff, comfy seating, a calm study space, free Wi-Fi and a clean room with lively music. Local artists' paintings on the walls are for sale, and one reviewer calls it a coffee shop and art gallery in one. One reviewer says they come during study sessions, and another calls it a great place to have matcha and work.

“Just went today and I really loved it! The customer service was really good, and the vibe felt cozy, friendly, and welcoming. They were very quick at serving, and the drinks were amazing!! There was some K-pop and Studio Ghibli songs playing, which I loved. It was really nice to see the staff happy to work, and you could genuinely feel their joy and positive energy. The decoration is really well done, with loads of places to sit, and most of the seats are very comfortable. The place is also very clean, and the free Wi-Fi works amazingly!! I’ll definitely come back 100%!!!”

“This place turned me into a matcha lover because what do you mean I can get a sea salt maple matcha?? It was incredible. The hojicha was also really good and the interior is just perfect as well.”

“Got the pistachio matcha with oat milk and it tasted like they used real pistachios in it rather than artificial flavoring which was great! They have comfy seating and a calm study space. The people working there were also very nice. Would recommend to any matcha lover!”

“i must admit i am usually not a matcha fan, but i have been to this place twice and have loved it both times there's just something about that smoky maple matcha i swear !! it could also be the amazing customer service and comfy cosy seat spots that are changing my opinion on matcha, my point being, you should definitely take the time to try it out and maybe even admire the cool artwork that they have on sale too (it's like a coffee shop and an art gallery in one)”
