  “Finally got a chance to visit this branch of Fortitude and it's excellent. It's good to see so much care taken over the coffee - as some other reviews have noted it's a distinct flavour but that is a plus IMO. I had a black Americano with a slice of the pecan, chocolate and coffee cake - a perfect match. The cafe itself is relaxed making you want to slow down a bit and take time to enjoy it. I was there on a Saturday morning and it's clearly popular with runners so busy and yet still chilled.”

  “The espresso here has a robustly fruity flavor, somewhat reminiscent of red wine. Personally, I do not like it, but I attribute that to my personal preferences. The coffee is clearly very fresh and high quality, just know that it has a distinctive taste. Also, they do not have drip coffee, just espresso-based drinks. Black bean, feta, and sweet potato hand pie: this was really delicious. The pastry was buttery and flakey. The filling was very flavorful and tasted very natural. It was hearty without being heavy. Granola bar: This tasted good but was a little too sweet. Soft and chewy. There is ample and comfortable seating inside with a nice atmosphere.”

  “Impeccable coffee shop. For all my fellow spoiled americans, this place also has incredible drip coffee. Extremely friendly baristas too playing great music, and a perfect place to work on your laptop for a bit or read a book. I can’t imagine a better coffee spot in Edinburgh. Will be returning very soon.”

  “I stopped by Fortitude Coffee while making my way toward the beautiful Holyrood Palace — the rain had just started to drizzle, and stepping into a warm, inviting café felt like a small reward in the middle of the windy Edinburgh air. The space had a calm, minimalist feel that made it easy to settle in and take a breather from the outdoors. The coffee was excellent — smooth, balanced, and clearly made with care. You can tell this place takes its craft seriously. I went with a flat white, though the menu had a good range of filter options and guest beans for those who like to explore. The pastry selection was impressive too, with options that cater to vegan and gluten-free diets. Staff were polite, knowledgeable, and helpful without being overly chatty — just the right tone for a solo visit. As much as I enjoyed the experience, there are two small things worth pointing out. Prices are a little on the higher side, so it’s not your quick, budget coffee stop. Also, the café is dog-friendly, which many will see as a bonus — but if you’re allergic or uneasy around dogs, it could affect your visit. For anyone exploring Edinburgh on foot — especially on a rainy, windy day — Fortitude Coffee is a great place to warm up, recharge, and enjoy a quality cup. Just keep in mind the premium pricing and presence of dogs inside if either is a concern for you.”

  “Excellent new spot from Fortitude - I remember York Place opening and they've done so much growing since then! Lovely space with big picture windows, simple offer but everything really well thought out. Obviously great coffee - both sit in and retail - and a welcoming and friendly vibe. Well done to you all.”

  “Delicious high quality cakes, specialty coffee and a very bright indoors space with sitting options. What's more to ask? Super happy they've opened in abbeyhill. And on top of that they're dog friendly!”
