About The White Lion
The White Lion is a pub in Coventry on Hawkes Mill Ln, and it became fully licensed in 1835 after beginning with local beer sold from a village shop. Beams run through the building. The kitchen cooks seasonal pub classics and Sunday roasts, and the menu gives a wide choice of dishes, including starters and puddings. Cask ales are poured at the bar. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food, with the baked scallops, the duck special and a trio of puddings named as standouts, and several call the menu wide with plenty of choice. The service draws repeated credit, with servers described as friendly, welcoming and attentive, one going through food allergies to find alternatives and another pointing a table to the app to save money. A few mention a comfy, peaceful room with tea light candles and no loud music, and a good spread of beers, wines and spirits. One reviewer who visited again after a slow family meal a few years earlier found the service brilliant this time. The main complaint comes from a Sunday lunch reviewer who found the roast served mostly cold, with chewy, undercooked roast potatoes, tough beef, dry turkey and a very small piece of belly pork, and who called the price outrageous. The gravy was the one item that reviewer liked, and the plate was sent back to be warmed. Another diner noted the sticky platter needs a side. Others close on empty plates and a pub they plan to return to.

“Had a brilliant experience, the chefs Gary and Tony really excelled with the baked scallops and the duck special was delicious, honey on the bar kept the ashahi flowing which was crisp and clean. Top notch guys well done”

“We have been twice in three weeks and cannot fault the superb service and beautiful food. Plenty of choice on the menu. Had different each time with starters. We tend to come a little earlier for dinner, as it’s a little more quieter. We got the best service from Chloe she is Amazing, very attentive and always asking if everything’s ok, she just genuinely cares about her job. Good on yer Chloe for going above and beyond. Food is spot on, the chef Mitch is very good could not fault. All in all coming back again and highly recommend The White Lion.”

“Food was incredible and nothing was too much trouble for Sophie our waitress. She took the time to go through food allergies and find alternatives. As well as making sure the littlest one at the table had everything she needed. Will definitely be back again!”

“Went into The White Lion, a lovely historical country pub in Allesley on the outskirts of Coventry. It was early afternoon and four of us went for lunch. It is a lovely welcoming place. There is a very good choice of beers, wines and spirits and the food was lovely. It was very well prepared and presented and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Also the atmosphere in the pub is very good, no loud bumping music, so we could chat and enjoy each other's company peacefully. Do give The White Lion a try, it is highly recommended. 👏”
