About The Four Provinces Ltd
The Four Provinces Ltd is an Irish pub in Coventry, at 19 Allesley Old Rd, with a small stage that hosts live bands and gigs. Upstairs, a function room holds parties of around 60 people, so it suits birthdays and other group gatherings. The big public bar opens onto a beer garden, and plenty of TVs show sports. A pool table gives regulars something to play between rounds. The drinks list includes a wide selection of non-alcoholic options. The pub does not serve food. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out friendly staff and a lively, busy bar with music and people having good clean fun. Gig-goers mention the small stage for bands and the plenty of televisions for sport, while another watched an NFL playoffs game there. A pool table, a beer garden and an upstairs function room used for birthday parties also come up, along with clean rest rooms and a good choice of drinks, including a non-alcoholic range one reviewer praised. Smaller complaints are that no food is served, that gigs could do with more seating, and that the toilets are upstairs. The sharpest criticism is the dress code. Two reviewers were turned away in hot weather for wearing shorts. One was told theirs counted as sports shorts while others in different branded shorts were let in, and another said they simply went to a different pub.

“Looking over the reviews I see the same issue I had yet im 2026, went to enter with a group of friends and was denied because I was wearing shorts yet it was a 27c day! Ridiculous rule, every other pub down Craven St didnt have this rule and its no wonder the bar had barely anyone in it, there loss as we simply went to another bar”

“Start your day off with a proper man like Patrick's Top of da mornin too ya, one of the sadly rapidly dying out proper old skool boozers. Very reasonably priced and Guaranteed a warm welcome, fresh lively pint and a great craic. (Haven't tried out the food yet) Clean Well kept and ran with a Great pool table too..... sláinte”

“We had a birthday party in the upstairs room, perfect for a small gathering of 60 people. We all had a great night ... the main bar was very lively with some staying to dance the early hours away.”
- Louis Hamill
“Turned me away for wearing Boss Cotten shorts in 30 degree heat as they were “sports shorts”. While letting in people with Monterain and adidas shorts. Absolute disgrace.”
