Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often use The Open Arms for group celebrations, from a Sunday lunch for ten where every meal came out together, to a birthday for fourteen friends and a party of more than fifty, all describing accommodating, friendly staff. Close behind is the food. A lunchtime three course set meal of starter, main and pudding is called very good, and reviewers also mention plenty of choice, a nice beer garden and clean, modern decor. One reviewer advises booking a table because it gets busy. The complaints centre on the kitchen and some service. One diner found the steak and chicken overcooked and hard, another was shouted at by an older woman behind the bar after using the toilet, and a third said an unfriendly server made the group wipe down their own table. One visitor regretted that snacks could not be bought late in the evening. On the positive side, two picky eaters ordering the Classic Breakfast had it adjusted to suit them by someone behind the bar, and it arrived lovely and hot.

“I came here today whilst I was on my lunch break, I asked the lady outisde if I could please borrow their bathroom facilities and she gave me directions to them. I decided I was going to get a drink & a snack whilst I was there however when I walked through the doors I went to the bathroom and was greeted with the rude older lady behind the bar who shouted “nice of you to ask enit” aggressively whilst I was walking in the toilet door. I was shocked that someone would firstly shout that across the pub and secondly the way she said it made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome in this pub. I decided to leave immediately after even though I work outside all day in this heat and really needed a drink and a snack. The other younger lady who I originally asked before I had even walked through the doors was nothing but kind and polite. Note to older lady behind the bar, don’t be so fast to assume I didn’t ask to use your facilities before entering. I hope you felt ashamed for the way you shouted at me in front of the 2 customers you were serving. No need to be so rude even if I didn’t ask.”

“Booked myself and 14 friends to celebrate my birthday at my local. The staff could not be more accommodating with what I wanted. Thank you for making the atmosphere and culture a great place to be and all the staff for their hard work.”

“Everything was great. It's a nice place, but it's a pity that you can't buy snacks after 8:00 p.m. I definitely recommend it for a night out with friends.”
