Customer Review Summary
Generous pub mains draw the most praise, led by a gammon steak and sirloin steaks cooked as ordered, plus a mixed grill and Hunters Chicken that reviewers call very tasty. Friendly staff come up almost as often, and diners also mention real ales such as Purity, a BrewDog Wingman IPA, home cooked nachos and a dog friendly, country pub feel. Value is split. Some call the fixed price menu good value, while another says the plates no longer justify what they cost and calls a garlic mushroom starter inedible. Consistency is the main complaint. One Sunday roast arrived lukewarm with hard, dry vegetables and a smaller portion, and another diner found fish overcooked. Others describe a single person covering the bar early in the evening, a loud racing broadcast in the open plan room, and a kitchen closing early enough that dessert had to be ordered before the mains arrived. One party that held a 40th anniversary with the in house DJ returned for a Sunday roast the next day and called it excellent.

“Unfortunately, the Sunday roast was much worse than before. The portion size was noticeably smaller, the food was served lukewarm, and the vegetables were hard and dry. It was quite disappointing compared to our previous visits. I hope the restaurant can improve and bring back the quality it used to have.”

“Went here for a quick meal following a day out. My pie was ok, my wife's fish was overcooked. The main room is all open plan with no recognisable restaurant area and the television showing the afternoon horse racing in there was a bit loud making conversation difficult.”

“Had an absolutely lovely meal at The Burnt Post today. I had the gammon steak which was cooked perfectly — juicy, full of flavour, and a really generous portion. My mum and stepdad both had the sirloin steaks and said they were spot on too, cooked exactly how they wanted them. Everything came out hot and fresh, the sides were great, and the portions were excellent. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and brilliant value for money. We’ll definitely be back!”

Whether you're popping in for a quick drink or spending the evening with friends, it's a great place to relax and enjoy yourself.”
