About The Yard
On Earl St in Coventry, The Yard is an LGBTQ+ community bar with a resident drag act and shows, and it welcomes anyone through the door. The kitchen serves breakfast, baked potatoes and a Sunday roast, so the venue works for a meal as well as an evening of entertainment. The cocktail list includes alcohol-free options alongside the alcoholic ones, which gives drivers and non-drinkers something to order from the bar. Dog owners can bring their pets along, since dogs are welcome. Indoor seating is plentiful.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention sunday roast, roasted cauliflower cheese, cocktails and drag act entertainment.
Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast is what reviewers return to most, with the roast beef and the cauliflower cheese singled out, one calling the cauliflower cheese ridiculous and another saying the roast beat their mum's. Close behind are the baked potatoes and generous kids meals, and one reviewer with celiac says their dietary needs were accommodated. Staff draw steady praise as welcoming and friendly, and several describe the chefs as knowledgeable. Cocktails get a mention for their range, including alcohol free options, and the music and drag act add to the atmosphere. Diners also note the outdoor seating and say a group of eight all received what they ordered. The one serious complaint comes from a reviewer who was asked to leave without a clear reason, was spoken to rudely by security when asking why, and was not allowed to finish a beer already paid for. Another reviewer notes there is no parking in the city centre. Several say they will be back, and one calls it their favourite place locally for Sunday dinner.

“Came here for a couple drinks, and everything was fine until we were suddenly asked to leave without being given a clear reason. When I asked the security to explain the decision, he responded in a rude and aggressive manner. I was also not allowed to finish a beer I had already paid for. This was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience. With security staff behaving this way, the venue does not feel like a safe or welcoming place. Paying customers deserve to be treated with basic respect. I would not return.”

“Hi, I was served by Ben today and he welcomed me with a smile and outstanding service, as he always does. The Yard is a very pleasant place to visit and chill for a while, the music choices are spot on, making you remember that tune from yesteryear. I did not stop for food today, just drinks (non alcoholic, now), but when I have had a Sunday roast or a breakfast, Matt and Hazel have always presented a good and tasty plate. I must just add, that, in The Yard, you always get a nice personal experience and visit, even just stopping off for drinks, and the variety of food served is very pleasing to the eye and stomach, when stopping off for a bit longer. To sum up, my server for today, Ben, is a very professional member of the bar staff, and even gives you a minute to chew the fat. 10 out of 10, you must visit, you must, you must..... Raj.”

“Excellent lunch with the family. Out of university term time so quiet but the staff were very friendly and efficient. The kids meals were very generous and the baked potatoes delicious.”

“Visited again today after coming last week after being recommended by friends. Had to do a review to say the excellent service, atmosphere and food was absolutely not a one-off. They have perfectly accommodated my dietary requirements (celiac) and both myself and my husband throughly enjoyed our meals (he has no allergies). The team here are second to none, the bar staff Willow & Ben are so welcoming and attentive and the chefs Georgia & Chris know everthing there is to know about food. 10/10 would highly recommend. Absolutely our new favourite place 🫶🏻”
