About The Old Plough
The Old Plough is an independently owned gastropub at 2 Station Rd in Cobham, serving freshly prepared food for a snack, a business lunch or a casual supper. The Sunday roast comes in several varieties, and the fish and chips is made with cod and served with mashed peas and tartar sauce. The dessert list includes a pistachio tart or cake and an affogato. The bar pours cask ales, wines, cocktails, and fairtrade coffee and tea. A covered area with heat lamps and blankets lets guests stay out in cooler weather, and the large alfresco dining area and pub garden suit summer evenings. Dogs are welcome, and reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast is the most repeated draw, with reviewers describing huge portions, vegetables cooked nicely and fair pricing. Fish and chips come close behind, praised for crispy cod batter, mashed peas and tartar sauce, though one reviewer called them expensive but worth it for the large portion. A schnitzel linguine is called the star of one table, and desserts such as the warm plum and pistachio tart, the affogato and a pistachio and almond cake draw praise, along with a good espresso. Cocktails and the pub garden also get mentions. Staff are consistently described as friendly even when the place is very busy, though one reviewer noted they struggled to keep up on a packed Sunday. One diner objected to the discretionary service charge as a shoddy practice, and another found the indoor room quiet because everyone else sat outside. Reviewers recall a party of ten squeezed in without a reservation, and covered outdoor tables supplied with heat lamps and blankets.

“Another beautiful evening at the Old Plough. Coming here once a year to meet friends to catch up when in the country. Atmosphere is always amazing. The guests which are strangers to me are always the most pleasant. Truly a community pub where kind humans meet to enjoy delicious meals. The staff are always top notch and can be proud working at such a prestige pub. Always a delight”

“We had a lovely evening at the Old Plough tonight to watch the solar eclipse. Cocktails on point and decently priced. I had the fish and chips which was expensive but worth it for the large portion and taste. My friend had the Schnitzel linguine which seemed to be the star of the show. Our server Lucy was so helpful and very friendly, making the experience extremely positive overall. Had never been here before but will definitely return. Lovely pub garden perfect for a summer evening!!”

“My second visit, which was just as good as the first! Great food served in by polite and friendly staff. We had three courses washed down with a glass of beer each and change from £100 which seems good value these days. I knocked off a star for atmosphere only because we were eating inside and it was quiet because everyone else was outside in the sun! Would thoroughly recommend.”

“First visit with family on bank holiday Monday. Everything was amazing from the welcome to the service to the quality of the food. Such an interesting menu and each dish we had was beautifully prepared, very tasty and generous in size. All the staff were friendly and warm despite it being super busy. Special mention for Matthew who was very attentive and charming! Thank you so much. We will definitely return. One of my favorites now and would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you.”

“A wonderful meal at this countryside pub. The chips were on point; one of the best of the year so far! Veggie sandwiches were perfect, well balanced and presented beautifully. One star lost for the "discretionary" 10% service charge; really no need to carry out this shoddy practice.”
