About The Plough
The Plough is a traditional pub on Orestan Ln in Leatherhead, set in the foothills of the Surrey Hills. Dogs are welcome here, and staff bring them water and treats, so owners can visit with their dogs. The kitchen serves a Sunday roast with vegetarian, chicken and beef options, which gives a mixed group a choice of mains. Sticky toffee pudding sits on the dessert menu for the end of the meal. The pub is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers praise most, with the chicken called juicy, the vegetables perfectly roasted, the potatoes singled out, and the beef and vegetarian versions also described as delicious. Close behind is the sticky toffee pudding, raised by more than one diner, along with the black pudding scotch egg, chicken schnitzel, apple crumble and fish and chips. Reviewers describe a friendly local pub with a log burner, a garden, a cosy atmosphere and new management they call lovely. The sharpest complaint comes from a diner who ordered the steak frites: the steak was thin and tough, too thin to cook medium rare, the portion looked like a child's, the chips were not frites, and the website wording implied a drink was included when it was not. Another reviewer found some menu dishes had no description, leaving staff to check with the chef. Two reviewers recall a server bringing their dog water and plenty of treats.

“Food was very good and prepared and cooked by a competent chef. Service was friendly and polite. Pretty little pub with good selection of wines, ciders and spirits. My only gripe is the menu, some of the dishes simply have no description of what is included, which leaves it to you to quiz the waiting staff, who don't know either and have to ask the chef. A simple rectification really.”

“Lovely find! We stopped there for a drink and late lunch and really loved the atmosphere, the garden and the service. Food and drinks were great and the lovely waitress , Serena, took great care of our dog too, bringing him water and plenty of treats. We’ll definitely come back!”

“Updated 12.03 after reply. Please see below. Went to the Plough this evening for ‘Steak Frites’. Embarrassing for the pub and the chain that the advert on the website reads like it is ‘steak, frites and a drink’. “enjoy a juicy steak, fries and garlic butter, plus a pint of our finest local brew or a glass of Malbec will go well with the steak.” It does not include a drink!! The ‘steak’ was utterly embarrassing. To call it ‘minute steak’ might not even be fair. So thin that ‘medium rare’ isn’t possible!!! Tough. The portion of steak is further embarrassment!! See the size compared to a fork! An adult getting a child portion of steak! When you can go nearby and have a steak, chips, mushroom, tomato side salad and a drink for under £20 and choose from fillet or ribeye and choose how you would like your steak cooked you should avoid The Plough and go elsewhere!!Eat local they say. Support local they say. Never this pub for dinner again! Chips (not frites) were nice though. Update 12.03 I am unsure as to why my review is unfair or untrue. It is an honest opinion. Simple. A drink is not included. This is not what the wording on your own website implies and simply saying ‘that is done by head office not us’ is not good enough. I have added a picture taken from your own website (which has now been taken down!). It would have been prudent to be professional, acknowledge the wording is poor and then simply say ‘we are sorry and on this occasion we will…..’ If you want to talk about the traditional nature of steak frites please do. Steak frites is traditionally served as slices of medium rare (or rare) steak. Frites are served not chips. To dispute my review on the basis of ‘traditional’ steak frites is laughable. The portion size was appalling as can be seen from the pictures. It is also easy to say ‘if you weren’t happy about the cook’ but what would you do if you are not happy having already been told, before the food even reached the table, that having medium rare steak would be tricky because the steak is thin’?? I won’t be going to The Plough for food again. Again - what part is untrue or unfair?”
