Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often mention the pub's spot opposite Hampton Court Palace and its great atmosphere. Food highlights include the liver pâté and a coq au vin pie. Service divides them: one diner was ignored without water and walked out, another waited after a lost ticket, and a schnitzel was called tasteless. Another says the kitchen custom-prepared a safe meal for a severe dietary condition.

“Beautiful pub opposite Hampton Court Palace. Really interesting venue with great restaurant on the upper floor. A lovely kind.”

“Outstanding service and incredible food! We visited The Mute Swan after touring Hampton Court Palace, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience. I have a very severe medical condition (Mastocytosis) and require a very strict, specialized diet (strictly low-histamine, 100% vegetarian, and fish-free). Usually, eating out is stressful, but the team here was exceptional. They took so much time to listen to my requirements, proactively made helpful suggestions, and custom-prepared a delicious, safe meal for me from scratch. My partner also thoroughly enjoyed her dish, and the entire meal was of excellent quality. It’s rare to find a kitchen and staff that handle severe allergies and dietary needs with such care, professionalism, and genuine kindness. We cannot recommend this lovely pub enough. Thank you to the wonderful team for making our visit so stress-free and memorable! We will definitely be back.”

“I was given a menu, only for it to be snachted out of my hands and replaced with the correct one... I didn't think of it until I saw price rises of £10 on some of the mains, when I asked what was the difference between the menus and could I see the previous menu, I was told, certain items were out of stock (incorrect) and that the menu was already in the bin (most efficient service, considering I work in F&B/hospitality) I was told repeatedly the menu was already in the bin (a peice of recyclable paper). We spotted key differences. Some of the mains on a menu dated the same were over £10 higher. No explanation, they're clearly too busy with tourists these days to deliver on anything else”

“Oktoberfest food menu - great idea but utterly poor execution. Ordered the Chicken schnitzel and, when the food arrived, I was immediately disappointed. At first, I thought they messed up the order with the kids menu, but when I realised that that was actually what I had ordered, I couldn’t believe it. It was a failed attempt to reproduce a German chicken schnitzel but all I got was a tasteless breaded chicken breast, some overcooked fries, a tiny portion of pickled carrots and they forgot to send the sauerkraut at first (I had to ask for it twice). And worst of all, this cost me £19.95 !!!”
