About Maray Chester
Maray Chester is a Middle Eastern restaurant in Chester, at 41 Northgate St, serving sharing plates from Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and North African cooking. The Disco cauliflower sits among them, alongside falafel with hummus and whipped feta. Most of the menu is gluten free, including a gluten-free option for the pita, so groups with different dietary needs can order from the same set of plates. A vegan selection is also on the menu, and the staff explain what can be adapted. Dishes are meant to be ordered several at a time and shared between the table. Chef's table seating is available, where food comes as it's ready. Cocktails and wines run alongside the food. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Cauliflower draws the most praise, whether as the bhaji or the disco cauliflower, with the fried chicken and the braised lamb with sweet potato close behind. Diners also single out whipped feta, crispy falafel with hummus, meatballs, fattoush, a steak one reviewer calls the best they've had in Chester, and desserts such as bread and butter pudding and a snickers dessert. One reviewer calls the Sauvignon Blanc the best they've had. Dietary needs come up repeatedly. Reviewers say most of the menu is gluten free, with a gluten-free option for the pita, and describe servers explaining vegan adaptations, allergens and which meat was halal. Staff are called friendly, helpful and welcoming. The one reservation is service described as a tad slow, which that reviewer put down to the restaurant being new. One couple who booked the chefs table enjoyed chatting with the chefs about the dishes and were presented with an anniversary card.

From the delicious meatballs and crispy falafel plate with hummus to the fresh salads, warm flatbread, and fried chicken paired with a great glass of wine—everything was phenomenal. “I was so happy to discover Maray has a Chester location now! They have most of the same great dishes as the Manchester spot. The quality and flavour of the food is exceptional! Almost everything is gluten free too (aside from the pita but they have a GF option).”

“I had a wonderful lunch at Maray. I’d been wanting to try their disco cauliflower for a while, and it did not disappoint! We also thoroughly enjoyed the other dishes, including the braised lamb, sweet potato, and fattoush. Everything was delicious, and the Sauvignon Blanc was the best I’ve ever had. I found the bill to be very reasonable, and the waitress we had was kind, welcoming, and attentive. I already can’t wait to go back!”

“Great vegan selection and the food is incredible! The restaurant is very nice and clean. Service was also good and polite, albeit a tad slow but to be expected in a new restaurant! Highly recommend, especially if you are vegan”
