About Moules a Go-Go Bar & Bistro
Moules a Go-Go Bar & Bistro is a bistro in Chester, on the corner of Cuppin St and Grosvenor St, with an open front and pale wood decor. Mussels lead the menu and come by the bucket, either as Harlech mussels or as Spanish-style moules with chorizo, red peppers, garlic and tomato. Tuesday brings a two-for-one offer on the buckets, and a different offer runs on most other week nights. Oysters are served fresh or baked with garlic and parmesan, and the kitchen also cooks steak and rotisserie meat. The bar pours cocktails, wines and beers. Seating is split between the ground floor and an upstairs level. The bistro opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Mussels are the main draw, described as sweet, fat, fresh and perfectly cooked, with one reviewer praising a version served with vegetables and bacon and another a Spanish style one with chorizo, red peppers, garlic and tomato. Oysters come close behind, called fresh and creamy, with grilled and baked versions with garlic and parmesan also praised. A seafood platter, a surf and turf platter and a squid starter are also singled out, along with a peach Bellini to open the meal. Reviewers describe friendly, attentive staff and a warm, lively, chilled atmosphere, and two who visited on a Friday evening found it quiet. On the downside, one reviewer says it is not cheap, and another suggests skipping the garlic bread, which arrived as only two small pieces. One reviewer who had long disliked mussels was persuaded by a server to order the surf and turf platter, then found the mussels tasty and not rubbery in the slightest.

“After reading the reviews I went for it. It's a nice restaurant with up and downstairs seating. I had half a dozen fresh oysters which were delicious and 2 baked oysters with garlic and parmesan also good. For my main I had moules Spanish style chorizo , red peppers, garlic and tomato which was nice. The service was good. Definitely worth going”

“Fantastic evening at the totally charming bistro. Great welcome for us and our two dogs. Also very accessible and friendly for my elderly mum. The staff are extremely courteous and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere, very chilled but still efficient.. Food very good, the mussels were sweet and delicious, oysters creamy and sublime. Squid starter very nice too. You get what you pay for here...its not cheap but it feels like a real treat.”

“Definitely go here if you like moules. They have a different offer on most week nights and Tuesday is two for one on the buckets of moules. Amazing value. Friendly staff. Great food. Starters were lovely and the moules fat, fresh and tasty. Fabulous.”

“This was our second visit to Moules a Go-Go Bar & Bistro, and once again it did not disappoint. Every part of the experience was outstanding. The peach Bellini was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start the meal. I ordered the Harlech mussels, which were divine—beautifully cooked, packed with flavour, and served with plenty of vegetables and bacon, which made the dish even better. The fresh oysters were incredibly fresh and tasted amazing, and the grilled oysters were equally delicious. You can really tell that the quality of the seafood is a priority here. The staff are always so friendly, welcoming and attentive, the service is quick without ever feeling rushed, and the atmosphere is fantastic. It has such a warm, lively vibe that makes you want to come back. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Moules a Go-Go to anyone visiting Chester. This is our second time dining here, and the food, service, staff and overall atmosphere have been consistently exceptional. We can’t wait to return!”

“Based in the heart of Chester just outside the old city walls very easy to walk to if you are centrally based. A lovely quaint & pretty open fronted restaurant ( when the weather is good). Great atmosphere & it was obvious it secures local as well as tourist trade, which is always a good sign! Servers were very attentive, friendly & helpful with menu choices. Our server must have been good, as she even persuaded us to go for the surf & turf platter despite my long standing dislike of mussels! Food was top notch & so plentiful we couldn’t finish it even though my partner has a ‘healthy’ appetite & yes I ate mussels & yes they were very tasty! Perfectly cooked & not rubbery in the slightest. I might be a convert! Highly recommend & would definitely go back if I’m in Chester again.”
