Quick info
About Chef's Table
Chef's Table is a modern European restaurant in Chester, at 15 Pepper St, with wooden floors and menus built around seasonal, market-sourced produce. The Iberico pork tasting arrives as a main course, so the pork takes the centre of the meal rather than a side role. Aubergine soup and a fondant dessert appear elsewhere on the menu. Evenings offer a tasting menu, and a set lunch comes in two or three courses. A sommelier suggests wines and pairings, and the waiter explains each dish and where its ingredients come from. The restaurant holds 2 AA rosettes. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the sommelier, whose wine knowledge and recommendations shape the meal, from a red matched to both a fish and a lamb main to a long chat about wine. Close behind is the food: the iberico pork tasting with its variety of cuts, a creative take on a Mother's Day roast, an aubergine soup one reviewer chose on a whim, and the fondant dessert. Others describe a tasting menu where every course arrived beautifully presented and full of flavour, and one says olives have never tasted so good. The set lunch menu draws repeated praise for value. Reviewers also describe welcoming, friendly staff who explain each dish and where the ingredients were sourced, and one praises the cocktails from the bar. A couple celebrating their anniversary was brought a 'Happy Anniversary' plate at the table.

“Absolutely amazing food! Staff were extremely welcoming. Drinks were delicious. Couldn’t fault the food at all, attention to detail and portion sizes were much better than we expected. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere was great, the waiter/waitresses were swift and extremely polite. The bar staff were friendly and the wine connoisseur was such a lovely person, happy to have a chat and give some great recommendations! We will be back, thank you!”

“Myself and my girlfriend had a wonderful experience here on our anniversary. The staff were excellent and you can tell that they're very passionate about what they do. We don't really drink, but we could overhear one of the waiters giving great insight into the wine selection. Our food was exquisite in taste and in presentation. Our waiter took the time to explain each dish and where the ingredients were sourced from, which the chefs had taken into careful consideration. We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary meal together. Olives have never tasted so good! The 'Happy Anniversary' plate was a nice touch. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.”

“We had an absolutely excellent evening at Chef’s Table from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were given such a warm welcome, which immediately set the tone for the night. The service throughout was outstanding, and the sommelier’s knowledge, attentiveness, and enthusiasm truly enhanced the whole experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any member of staff — everyone was friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive. Once the tasting menu began to arrive, we were completely blown away. “Excellent” almost feels like an understatement for how phenomenal the food was. Every course was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with exceptional care and creativity. We would highly recommend Chef’s Table to our friends and family, and we are certain we’ll become regular visitors. Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable evening.”

“The food was exquisite and the sommelier recommended a great red to go with both my fish and my friend lamb main.”

“I don’t normally leave reviews but the food & service was so good. I realised when we were in there that the place has 2 AA rosettes and I can see why. We went for Mother’s Day and had the 3 course lunch menu, I wasn’t expecting them to do roasts but was pleasantly surprised when I saw it on the menu. They did their own creative take on it whilst still staying true to a classic and it was unreal, one of the best roasts I’ve ever had and the fondant dessert was also up there. Couldn’t rate it high enough and will be going back for sure next time I’m in town.”
