Customer Review Summary
Hanging kebabs draw the most mentions. One group all ordered them, and a vegetarian version was described as filling and intentionally made, though a South African diner found the kebab no better than at home and the food a bit bland. Close behind are the cocktails, called delicious, perfectly made, and so nice they were easy to drink. Reviewers also name the spicy prawns starter, pan-seared salmon, chicken parmesan escalope, fries with garlic oil, and the cookie dough and edible flower pot desserts. The interior wins praise as beautiful and gorgeous, with its plants, rooftop terrace and live band, though one reviewer found the noise a cacophony once the performer, background music and kitchen overlapped. Service splits sharply. Some call it great, while others describe a long wait for mains while smaller tables were served and paid, a salad missing its chickpeas, an avocado salad with only tiny pieces fixed by a lump of guacamole, a dirty wine glass, and a birthday booking nobody acknowledged. One group spotted a full extra meal on the bill and had it removed.

“Food was good. Coffee was good. Noise level was a bit too much for me. They had a live performer, but the background music was still playing at the same time. Add all the people in that big room, kitchen sounds - and it becomes quite a cacophony. Interior is cool. They have really placed a lot of attention on small details. It all looks very nice.”

“My friends and I went here for dinner and had an absolutely amazing time. First, our server Ayanna, was very attentive, kind, and charismatic. She elevated the experience to another level with her service. I can’t think of many other experiences where I received customer service to this level. Second, the food was unique and delicious! I had never heard of a hanging kebab and the vegetarian one was filling and felt intentionally made whereas I normally feel like vegetarian options are afterthoughts. My cocktail was perfectly made and the dessert in the edible flower pot was extremely cute (and tasted amazing). Finally, the venue was gorgeous! The plants around the room really transported me to somewhere outside of the city. The piano in the middle of the room was beautiful, and the rooftop terrace look amazing as well. My friends and I all had an amazing experience at The Botanist. Thank you Ayanna!”

“We arrived for a graduation dinner at 430pm. It was reasonably quiet at the time. However we had to wait well over an hour for our main after ordering. During this time smaller tables had been seated, served and paid their Bill beofre we had gotten our Main. They had ordered kebabs just like the majority of us. It was 2 courses for £28.95. However it didnt include the option for dessert. There was a selection of 3 starters just but the starter I had was lovely. My wife ordered a salad but had to add Chicken for £4.50. Which seemed excessive considering we were paying for a small chicken starter and a Salad for £28.95 plus £4.50. When the salad arrived the chickpeas were also missing. Staff started off very friendly but then as they got a bit busier they seem to struggle. Only one person got a dessert which we had to wait 20 mins for and we also had to wait sometime on the bill. The Bill had a full extra meal added at £28.95. Luckily we spotted it and got it removed. The overall experience was a negative one unfortunately which was a shame as the food was decent.”

“Everything was lovely, from the ambiance, the indoor/rooftop settings, and the food. I had the pan-seared Salmon, veggies, and potatoes: it was fresh and absolutely delicious! Highly recommended. 5/5 stars”

“Fabulous food! But where was the rest of my mash. 🤦😂 That belly pork needs more mash. The size of that plate compared to the lagoon of gravy. And the only other critique is that you are charging astonishing prices for ham and cheese croquettes. Which workout at £2 per croquette. 🤯🤯🤯. Other than that it was a great evening. 😂🙌”
