  “Myself and my partner visited Sonder for my birthday and had a fantastic experience. I have coeliac disease and the waiting staff and manager were exceptional in walking me through the best items on the menu, talking me through the processes and handling of gluten in the kitchen, even making some adjustments for me and creating a delicious gluten free meal. Food, service and atmosphere were perfect. Will be recommending to friends and family.”

  “This is by far one of the most unique and fresh menus in the city, the restaurant has a great ambiance about it. We had the pickles & olives, mini beef sliders and Otorro for starters, the mini beef sliders were a standout with the chimichurri! For mains we had steak and fries with garlic butter and the sea bass with lobster and mussels, they was both excellent and some of the freshest seafood you’ll find in the city.”

  “I have to say it was the best food I have ate at restaurant in Cardiff and the Vale. The staff were amazing and took time out to go through the menu with my wife who has allergies, and also explained each of the dishes and answered any questions we may have had. The food was amazing from the starters all the way through to desert, even the wife food was fantastic. We will definitely be back.”

  “That lamb mixed grill is absolutely insane! The grilled aubergine on that dish was incredible, all the different types of lamb. That needs to stay on the menu long term. Brilliant service, always 10/10 at sonder.”

  “This has quickly become my new favourite place to eat! The food was absolutely amazing—everything we ordered was fresh, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and every dish arrived perfectly presented and seasoned. The service was excellent too. The staff were warm, friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable. If you're looking for fantastic food made with fresh ingredients and outstanding service, I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll definitely be back again soon!”

  “The staff and the food at Sonder were excellent. Great menu and the service was excellent. We were a small group and the food was served freshly cooked and nothing was too much trouble for the Sonder service team. The food is excellent value too for the quality of ingredients which are locally sourced. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and can't wait to return.”

  “Came here to dine solo after seeing the place mentioned on the Michelin guide. I had high expectations for this place. When I arrived the restaurant was fully booked and the music was loud and sort of clubby. I was given a table outside by the front door with a wobbly chair right next to the road, and since I could only sit inside by the counter (and it was too hot and noisy inside) I chose to stay outdoors. Service was very slow and once I was able to order (and using previous Google comments as reference) I ordered the surf and turf, the tuna ceviche with melon and jalapeño gazpacho, and the three lamb meats. Unfortunately and much to my surprise all the food came in at once. When I complained the waitress who took the ordered said“you did not ask for dishes to be staggered” and therefore she assumed I wanted everything all at once. It is part of the waiter’s job to ask if the customer wants the food all at once or not! Besides, any person who works in hospitality or with common sense would know that three dishes (appetiser, starter and a main) would be too much for one person to eat, and warm food would get cold. Specially the lamb meat, that goes colder way quicker than other meats. The waitress asked to get the lamb back in the kitchen, but I knew that lamb would not be warm when it came back. This mistake made the entire dinner more difficult to enjoy. The surf and turf was a bit of a letdown. The shrimp on top seemed frozen and the beef tartare underneath had too much lemon and it overpowered the flavour. The tuna ceviche was correct. The tuna meat did not have too much flavour and the “gazpacho” was more like a guacamole sauce with some melon in it. The seaweed in it was tasty though, and you could get hints of melon which was nice. Still, the gazpacho term is very misleading. Finally, the lamb came back and it was only lukewarm as I expected it to be. This dish was a better than the rest in terms of flavour, but it was nothing mind blowing. The meat was cooked properly and both the meat and vegetables had lots of flavour. The dessert menu was not enticing so I ordered a glass of Pedro Ximenez. When I ordered it I had to be brought in the restaurant because at 22:00 they cannot have people outside drinking. Having had known that I would have probably avoided ordering the glass altogether. Overall a very disappointing experience. I regret not taking the service charge out of the bill. The Michelin guide in the UK does not know what they are doing (as always).”

  “I recently went to Sonder for an evening meal and it was absolutely delicious. The service from front of house and back of house was impeccable. Blink and your empty dishes were gone. Absolutely incredible flavours and couldn’t recommend this restaurant more for family meals or even a catch up over a few small plates. Their use of different flavours and presentation is arguably the best in cardiff. DEFINITELY will be coming back without question…”

  “We recently dined here and had a wonderful experience trying a wide variety of dishes from the menu. If you love a mix of great flavours and attentive service, this place is highly recommended. We kicked off the meal with a massive spread: Surf & Turf Rosti, Tuna Tacos, Mini Beef Sliders, Karaage Chicken, and the Tempura Fritto Misto. Everything was delicious, but three items completely stole the show: Karaage Chicken: Absolutely spot-on. The batter was perfectly light and beautifully crispy. Tempura Fritto Misto: Incredibly well-executed and a massive hit at the table. Mini Beef Sliders: Juicy, flavorful, and packed a punch for their size. For our main courses, we went big: Mussels, Loch Duart Salmon, Welsh Lamb, Steak, Pork Sirloin, and a side of Mac & Cheese. The Welsh Lamb was the absolute highlight of the mains - so incredibly fragrant, tender, and juicy. We ordered our steak medium-rare, but it accidentally arrived medium-well. However, this is where the restaurant truly shone. The manager handled it flawlessly, quickly turning things around and replacing it with a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak. We were so pleased with how he handled the situation. Overall, good food, good service, we will definitely be returning!”

  “Outstanding visit at Sonder. Fritto misto and surf and turf bites to start followed by the sirloin beef tornadeos. The batter on both the Fritto misto was perfectly light and not greasy. The sirloin was fantastic quality and perfectly cooked. We were served by a lovely waitress (who recommended our mains and did not disappoint!) and she was the perfect combination of welcoming and checking in without being overbearing. This place is the perfect date night or place to go for that special meal. Book!”
