Quick info
About Fowl & Fury
Fowl & Fury is a Nashville hot chicken restaurant in Cardiff, at 76 Cowbridge Rd E, cooking since 2020. The chicken is made to order and served as tenders or in a Sando. Heat runs across six levels, from Country with no heat up to Fury, and the team explains the scale when you order. First-timers are steered toward mild or extra-mild, and because every order is cooked fresh, the spice can vary slightly depending on who is on the stove. Loaded fries with coleslaw come alongside the chicken. The room is small, with posters on the walls.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mostly for the Nashville hot chicken, singling out the juicy, crispy tenders and the big chicken sando or fried chicken burger. Close behind are the loaded chips, called the best one reviewer has had, along with the dips, sauces and homemade pickles. The heat scale is the recurring caveat. Several found even medium or mild very hot, one said a friend who loves spice could not finish a medium burger, and many advise starting at mild or extra mild and taking the spice recommendations seriously. One notes the heat can vary slightly depending on who is cooking. Others mention a small room and prices that feel high, especially for students, though portions are called generous. One reviewer reported a tender that was overcooked and stale, with bones inside, and said quality had slipped over several orders. One takeaway order was still hot after a ten minute walk home.

“Good food, very flavorful and good portion size. The place is a bit small to it down, and a bit expensive especially for students like myself”

“Food was great, but I don't understand their heat scale? why you would have a medium heat that is not medium!? The medium was extremely hot and spicy, and even my Indian friend who loves his spices couldn't finish his medium spiced burger. The heat scale was explained while ordering by server/chef, I just think it's a bit daft. Food was lovely though, the chicken breasts were huge.”

“Really disappointed with the quality from this restaurant lately. I’ve ordered a few times before and gave them the benefit of the doubt when previous orders weren’t great, but this time was unacceptable. The chicken was extremely overcooked and tasted stale, and there were even bones inside what was supposed to be a tender. Quality seems to have been getting worse each time I order. Very disappointing experience and definitely not what I expected. I hope they do improve there quality like it used to be.”

“Fun atmosphere even for a small restaurant, we got a takeaway but enjoyed the posters etc while we waited. The chicken was great, excellently cooked and well spiced. When I say well spiced I mean it literally - this place is spicy, we got an extra-mild and a mild and they were both very spicy. Whatever you usually get, knock it down by 1-2 notches. As long as you know that it’s very spicy going in, it’s such good chicken. As a fried chicken fan with a low spice tolerance I’d probably go no spice next time and my partner said he’d get extra-mild instead next time (usually gets medium). But overall the dips were great, I enjoyed the crinkle cut chips and the food was so good. Would definitely come again. Just as an fyi, we waited about 15 mins for the food and it was very fresh, walked about 10 mins home and it was still hot.”

“We had high expectations having followed their social media for a while and the food exceeded expectations! Outstanding food. Mild was the recommended spice level for first timers and it was bang on. The Sando was as big as it was tasty and the tenders were just the same! A certain favourite for us now and we’ll be going back very soon”
