About JRC Global Buffet Cardiff

JRC Global Buffet Cardiff is an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant in Cardiff, at Units 1 - 4. The 38-dish spread runs across Chinese, Indian and British dishes, with sushi alongside. Live cooking stations sit at the centre of the format, with teppanyaki grills where fresh meats and seafood, including salmon, are cooked in front of guests. A separate ramen station covers noodles, and the grill station limits how many items each guest can take. Birthday guests get a free all-you-can-eat meal, which suits celebrations. Dessert closes the meal with strawberry mousse, ice cream, fresh fruit and ice lollies.

Customer Review Summary

The cooking stations draw the most praise, with reviewers singling out salmon cooked in front of them and fresh meats and seafood grilled to order, alongside a spread covering Chinese, Indian, British and sushi. Several describe friendly staff and a clean room, and the strawberry mousse gets particular praise. Desserts are the most repeated complaint: reviewers report stale, hard cakes, rock hard jelly, melted ice cream and thin stocking. Several say food was not hot enough, and a few dislike the plastic plates. The harshest accounts call the live cooking poorly done and describe soggy pizza, cold sweet and sour beef, a closed ramen station and no ice for water. One reviewer says the grill was limited to two items with no warning, and another reports a strong smell near the toilets. Experiences vary sharply, and one returning diner says variety and taste had improved on a second visit. Some come back for the free birthday meal, and one regular notes that fresh fruit and ice cream are always available.

“I sent this via email and message to receive no response. Hello, We visited on the 17th as part of my son’s 16th birthday celebration as we had always wanted to try your restaurant. We travelled more than 45 mins to get to your restaurant and paid city centre parking charges to visit. We were left absolutely disgusted and so hungry we visited a takeaway on the way home. I don’t want to post this review on social media or review sites in hope you can rectify this situation with a refund. We were sending full plates of food back to the kitchen as they weren’t edible. There was limited food available with many areas in the buffet areas being out of use. We were a party of 4 and not one of us enjoyed a single thing and we tried a range of options. The curry tasted like it comes from a jar or the microwave. The pizza was soggy. The onion rings were over cooked. The Mac cheese tasted like it had gone off and rubbery. Sweet and sour beef was cold and chewy. The noodles were dry and sticky. The chips were bruised and cold. The dessert choice was awful and the cakes tasted like chemicals. The sweet dishes were solid and stale. The worst was spaghetti and meatballs which tasted like a dish of salty water. These are just some examples I could go on. The waiters were trying to take the plates from under our noses like they could tell we didn’t like anything. Then to pay over £100.00 to be served off plastic plates with dirty cutlery was horrendous. The drinks were served in cans, the water was warm and been sitting on the bar. Honestly I rated my experience 0/10 and regret our choices. I have attached a couple of images I didn’t take many as it was at this point I had decided I would complain and leave the restaurant when not even the most basic of dishes were just so many levels of wrong. Then as we were leaving we were pointed towards the back door to be what was to seem like to be let away from arriving guests. I hope to hear from you soon. Kirsty.”

“Misleading, Overhyped, and Just Bad Total waste of money. The food at JRC Buffet was cold, bland, and just awful. Nothing had flavor, everything tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Worst part? They have random restrictions on what you can eat — like only two items from the grill station— but they don’t mention this anywhere not on the website, not while booking, and not even when you're paying. Complete lack of transparency. The ramen station was closed (on a weekday with no warning), and the desserts were disgusting. Cakes were dry and hard, the ice cream tasted like protein powder, and nothing felt fresh or worth the price. Honestly, it felt more like a scam than a buffet. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.”

“So much to choose from! But not enough room to try every thing so will have to visit again! Great friendly staff everywhere is spotless!! great meal out with the family, disabled friendly venue to, meaning enough space to get around as much as needed especially if you have a big bulky chair or similar. Parking is the only down fall (it don't have any) we had to be dropped off. But still a great venue to have a meal”

“Absolutely amazing so much choice in foods and deserts although some deserts were stale and abit hard and unpleasant to eat the mouses were absolutely delectable the strawberry mouse is out of this world! The salmon that gets cooked in front of you is the best i’ve ever tasted! Staff are so lovely and don’t pester you for plates only when they see youre done with them then they will come and ask! Every Staff at the buffet had incredible service and we also tipped staff! the aesthetics in the buffet is unreal. Food was still hot and nothing was cold. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews about this place so we tried it out and my experience was unreal! i could say so much more about how good this place is. 10/10 Would definitely go again. i was concerned to go becuase of the reviews but most of them might’ve been on a bad day. I’m coming here next week again.(Stayed here for almost 5 hours and had around 20 plates! yes i can eat)”

“Absolutely terrible experience. The food was disgusting and not worth the £19.95 per person. The live cooking was the worst part - food wasn’t even cooked properly. Most of the buffet was cold, desserts were missing, the jelly was rock hard, and even the fruits were rotten. The sushi was awful, the Indian food was no better, and overall nothing was edible. Staff didn’t bother refilling food, were rude, and even asked to clear my plate while I was still eating. No water is served at the table - you’re expected to buy it separately. Hardly any beer on tap either. This place has no value for money and no manners in service. Honestly, I wouldn’t even rate it a 1. They should be refunding customers instead of charging for such a terrible experience. Avoid at all costs.”
