Customer Review Summary
Big portions anchor the praise, with the jumbo fish and chips called incredible and several reviewers saying the size justifies prices they call slightly expensive for the New Forest. Chicken chorizo skewers and sausage and mash are described as delicious, and plates are said to arrive very hot. Close behind is the outdoor space: the back garden and seating areas are repeatedly called lovely, and one diner mentions fairy lights coming on as evening fell. Beer selection and rose wine get a nod too, though one reviewer was not a fan of the Katy Perry cider. Service splits. Most find the staff friendly and quick, and a large group was seated and looked after smoothly. Others describe unwelcoming bar staff during a busy spell, staff talking among themselves while serving, and food delivered with instructions to fetch cutlery and sauces from the bar. One diner found the fish pie to be bits of salmon with mash, and the fish and chips not large. Another reviewer's highlight was a crumble served in a cute cup.

“This establishment, unequivocally, stands out as a truly magnificent pub. From the moment one steps through its welcoming doors, the dedication and professionalism of the staff become immediately apparent. Their attentiveness is not merely satisfactory; it is exceptional, consistently anticipating needs and providing a level of service that elevates the entire experience. Every interaction is met with a genuine warmth and a proactive desire to ensure guest satisfaction. Beyond the exemplary service, the beer prices are notably reasonable, offering excellent value without compromising on quality or selection. It’s a delightful surprise to find such well-maintained and diverse beverage options at such competitive rates, making every round a pleasure. The culinary offerings here are nothing short of spectacular. The food is, in a word, amazing. Each dish is prepared with evident care and a clear passion for flavour, showcasing a delightful array of options that cater to various tastes. What truly sets it apart, however, are the generous portions. They are indeed large, ensuring that every diner leaves feeling thoroughly satisfied and well-fed, truly getting their money's worth and then some. This combination of exquisite taste and substantial quantity makes every meal a memorable occasion. On a particular visit, our group comprised a considerable number of people, around 20 individuals in total. Despite the substantial size of our party, the pub’s team managed the situation with impressive efficiency and grace. They deftly navigated the challenge of accommodating such a large contingent, swiftly arranging seating and ensuring everyone was comfortably settled. Throughout our entire stay, they looked after us with an unwavering commitment, attending to every request and ensuring that our collective experience was seamless and enjoyable. Their ability to handle a big group with such ease and professionalism is a testament to their exceptional organizational skills and dedication to customer care, making it an ideal venue for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations alike.”

“Just had the loveliest meal at this gorgeous, cosy, country pub. The service was exceptional (thank you to Damien who was so friendly and accomodating) and the food was delicious, I had the "Chef's Salad" and it was *chefs kiss!* Lovely atmosphere, we sat outside all evening and as it got dark, the fairy lights came on, which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend.”

“Food was lovely. Big portions and came out very hot. Slightly expensive but you are in the new Forest so as expected, but the portions definitely justify the price you pay. Service was quick but the staff mainly spoke between themselves even when serving you. Otherwise all good. Lovely out door seating area also and bathrooms very clean.”
